k&s 1470 Wire bonding reconstruction

Hi,

A couple of months ago I bought a k&s 1470 wire bonding head to build my own on budget bonding machine for repair the famous HP yig oscillators.

I have finished reconstructing the mechanical parts of the bonding, but to start making the electrical part I need the service manual of the head.

I don't know if this is the correct group, but i hope sameone can help me find the service manual to finish this "big" project.

Best regards,
Massimo

Let me see what I can find, Massimo.? ?I used to work for Orthodyne Electronics, which has since been acquired by K&S.? I'll check with my contacts at K&S Orthodyne.? ? ? ? Jim Ford, Laguna Hills, California, USA?

Thank you Jim for your helpfulness.

If anyone in the group has any questions about the project I am more than happy to answer them.

No problem, Massimo, I am happy to help out.? I did get a response from one of my contacts to reach out to another person who may be able to find you a service manual.? I need to look up that person;
?probably won't have time until tomorrow evening.? ? Jim

Thank you Jim for your helpfulness.

Hello,

I was also interested in getting a K&S wire bonding machine for the same
purpose to fix the HP YIGs but the ones that I found were missing parts.

I was looking for any manuals that showed the parts list so I can try to
identify exactly the missing parts but I found it impossible to find any
K&S manuals.

I am interested if anyone has user manuals and especially service
manuals for the 412x and 452x series of wire bonding machines from K&S.

One of the parts that the ones I found was missing was the heated
working table and I found exactly zero on eBay.

Let us know how is your project developing. I am more than interested in
updates.

Regards,
Razvan

It might be worth reaching out to Iban, EB3FRN, as he has my retired K&S 4526 which had the heated stage and manual. He has it setup and running-was considering adapting to deep access.

You could also try contacting Inseto in the UK as I have bought spares from them. Expect commercial pricing!

Razvan, to get an idea of the components of the machine try looking up the patent for that bonding model.

I did the same thing for the 1470 and found these two patents:
US4202482
US4239144

I suggest you try looking them up at this site:

As for the heater, you can build it yourself with a power resistor.
In my heater I used a 50W resistor to get maximum 150 ¡ãC .
I attach some photos to give you some ideas.

Massimo

Hello Massimo,

Thanks for the tip with the patents!

As for the heater I already have some left over power resistors so I can
build something similar to yours.

I will most probably come to you with more questions regarding the wire
bonding machine.

Hello Lehane,

I was trying last year to send Iban EB3FRN an email but I cannot really
find his email address. I am watching his blog site and also his youtube
channel but I don't see how to get in touch with him.

Can you help me with his email address?
