Re: Agilent E4404B Spectrum Analyzer With Dead PSU Repair
Just looking at the 2 input caps - usually 2 are used in situations where there is a 120v / 240v switch . Its setup for 120v right ? not 240v?? the 2 caps on the input should be series for voltage

Am I accurate that I likely need like 500 or 600 watts, or will less, like 200 watts be sufficient? <terrell.michael.a@...> wrote:

Re: 5328A external reference input upgrade
Found a problem with my original (Rev-A) U16 replacement board. Have a new one that works fine in the 5328B. The HP spec for the external reference input is >1V RMS (2.82V P-P) into 1K ohm, that would

Re: HP6643A - Blows Fuse When Activated
You can parallel smaller lamps to get what you need. Either just wire the sockets in parallel, or add a switch to each socket to select the desired load. Then you can use it without worrying about

Re: HP6643A - Blows Fuse When Activated
Everyone, thanks for the responses. I believe the unit is spec'd for a 5 amp, 250 volt fuse, when using 120 VAC to supply the unit. That means I (think) I need at least 600 watts of bulb, or am I

Re: Agilent E4404B Spectrum Analyzer With Dead PSU Repair
Assuming normal operation for a power supply, either overvoltage or overcurrent conditions.? If you have a scope, look at the rail voltage vs the shutdown signal and see what's going on and when.

Re: Agilent E4404B Spectrum Analyzer With Dead PSU Repair
My previous idea about why the controller circuit shutdown is wrong. I measured the IN-OUTPUT of the LT1121. The input changes between 13-20V, which is more than enough headroom for a 10V output

Hi Eric, I believe it's this cap (25V - 470uF). It's connected directly over the supply line of the LM339 and LT1121

Re: HP6643A - Blows Fuse When Activated
First, you need to chose a bulb that will draw ALMOST as much current as the fuse is rated for. That way, if there's a short in the DUT (device under test), all the voltage drop will fall across the
