Re: HP AN/USM 281A Oscilliscope needs repair (San Antonio TX)
Ok, I re-read your original post. Thank you for your patience. I used the calibrator sockets on the left side of the screen with 1 piece of wire in the negative and 1 piece of wire in the 10v socket

Ok. If I can find any of my 32MB ones, I will try it and let you (and the list) know if it will recognize additional memory. -Dave [hp_agilent_equipment] wrote:

Unfortunately, I don't have a simm 72 pins more than 16Meg.

Re: Fast Rise/Fall Time Pulser
SMD parts are too small to have a human readable full part number, so manufacturers either leave them blank (thanks alot!) or put a code on them that uniquely ID's the part within the manufacturer.

more 89441A: remote sessions
For those of us on UNIX systems (including Linux), a quick and easy way to remotely activate an X11 session from a workstation is: echo "SYST:COMM:LAN:XWIN:STAT ON" | nc vsa 23 > /dev/null On

Re: help hp5300a / 5303a manual service
As you probably know already, the 5300A manual is readily available online but the 5303A does not appear to be. However, in November 2015 someone on EEVblog said that Dave of Artek Manuals had made a

Re: Fast Rise/Fall Time Pulser
The Leo Bodnar pulser output level is adjustable but at outputs higher than some 1 v P-P the rise/fall times increase. I reported the ~0.95 v P-P as what was reported on the datasheet for *my*

Send me via private email your original config file with AY9 enabled and I'll try to figure it out. A new checksum needs to be calculated to include this option, in the master config file, plus a few

Hi Dave, Wow! Good news! I was so curious that I verified wich type of memory is used on USG board : RAM chip was MT4C4001JDJ-6 (FPM memory type). Here, I had an old 72 pin memory SIMM of 16Meg

Re: some 89410A/89441A notes
I just went and looked at that. I found that same procedure on the eevblog forum, was that your post? I followed the procedure on my unit and it worked. There was one minor issue, though.

Woops - forget my reference to the 8558B in my prior response - too many threads. :) The remainder of the post is correct (i.e. look a the non-military manual for the unit). Ken

Re: HP AN/USM 281A Oscilliscope needs repair (San Antonio TX)
Again, this could be related to open resistors in the horizontal deflection amplifier output stage. Specifically I would check R238, R239, and R275. These are the component references from the 8558B

FWIW, could be old news for many, but I uploaded at ko4bb the required files to enable all software options on a 89410A. The archive is still in the upload area.
