Re: E5052A Power On Test (3.3V Bus Supply)
Great!? That's the best kind of repair; when you learn something in addition to getting it working again. Jim FordLaguna Hills, California, USA

Re: Manual for HP 466A amplifier
Scan sent to wb2uaq. Incidentally, there should not be DC on the output—100 uf capacitor C18, in series with 39 Ohm resistor R35, connects the emitter of emitter follower Q7 to the output BNC

Re: HP 8660B/86602B developed output stability problem, getting-started suggestion(s) request
Back on this after a short break. I'm experiencing what Gary Appel described a few posts back. The SL1 VCO module on an extender (per prior photo) can be adjusted (two potentiometers, one controlling

Re: HP Agilent 8753ES VNA repair [Help]
Sorry for delay, For high band VCO must be 39.84Mz and VCO at 39.996MHz for lowband <16MHz. Divider: 4kHz for low frequency and 160kHz for high frequency. VCXO 40 MHz, your SPAN of Spectrum

When I worked on the 8660's and plugins more than 25 years ago, I had short lengths of bus wires with smaller gauge wire soldered to them and then they covered with heat shrink.? This allowed

Re: HP Agilent 8753ES VNA repair [Help]
My VCO frequency is wrong is should be 39.840 MHz. 39.840 MHz divide by 40 is 996 KHz. I have a VCO frequency of 39.100 MHz. Divide by 40 : 977 KHz. -> The 2sd LO frequency I have. Can I manualy tune

Re: HP Agilent 8753ES VNA repair [Help]
VNA parameters used ?: - Frequency center 100 MHz - SPAN zero mode TP20 (VCO): RF signal is at 39.100 MHz, -1.3 dBm instead of 39.840 on your board for frequency >16 MHz *seems KO ?* RF signal is at

Hey Dave, According to the manual they're actually both electrolytics. Thanks for you kind word! Arnaud.

Re: HP Agilent 8753ES VNA repair [Help]
If we focus on the high band for now, 3 sources are involved: the 10 MHz reference, the 40 MHz VCXO and a VCO near 40 MHz (39.996 MHz). Check your 10 MHz reference. Measure the TP VCO

That solder-looking ball is metallic tantalum that melted and burst through the outer shell of the capacitor. This is a classic failure mode for a shorted tantalum capacitor, usually the "dipped"

Re: HP Agilent 8753ES VNA repair [Help]
PLL 2 is 977 KHz instead of 996 Khz. I have a delta of 19 KHz on PLL on high band. This explain why the IF on A10 is 23 KHz instead of 4KHz and do not pass the digital filter. Problem is common on
