Re: VNA Resonance Methodology
And if you want to do a first-order correction for fringing, replace the length with [length + 0.9*radius]. This correction is important if the coil length is not very much greater than the radius.

Thanks, everyone; all noted. I believe that should nail it, now.

Re: VNA Resonance Methodology
Hi Jinxie, Back to the fundamentals! L=n2.mu.S/l With mu=1.26.10-6 as your inductor is on air? S in sq meters l in meters This usually works well for me! Hope this helps Jinxie Renaud

I forgot to mention, the values for voltage match what I read on the output pins on the PCB.

Thanks for the info¡ Yeah, I know, you¡¯re right, I should have thought it through before hooking things up, but I¡¯ve charged these types of batteries many times without incident, but¡ Anyway,

How did you connect the LC to the analyzer? Any cable? If yes, did you perform the VNA cal at the DUT end of the cable? Tom -- Prof. Thomas H. Lee Allen Ctr., Rm. 205 420 Via Palou Mall Stanford

Yves, I had a look at measuring the gain control lines to A12. I saw the control is coming from U107 and U111 on the analog interface and running over the mainboard to A12. It would be best to measure

Re: VNA Resonance Methodology
Jinxie, Assuming perfect L and C in your parallel resonant circuit in series with 50 ohms: At high frequencies, it should look like 50 ohms (center of chart), since the C is a low impedance to ground.

Re: Troubleshooting a 8591e with opt 130
Marco, The gain and attenuator control lines are A1, A2, A3, A4 and A5 for the attenuators in the A12 module. G1, G1 and G3 in the A12 module for the gains, and G4, G5 and G6 in the A14 LOG amplifier.

Re: VNA Resonance Methodology
Sorry - got that wrong! It should be in the center across the entire sweep except for a narrow range around resonance where the trace should move to the far right of the Chart. Correct?
