Re: Capture from HP4192A and plot
I should point out to the curious that the plot shows the Maxwell-Wagner effect due to the water sample being in a ziplock bag and placed between the capacitor plates. Goggle Maxwell-Wagner. Capture from HP4192A and plot
I have just uploaded a file "Capture and Plot from HP Test Equipment" to the files section.
It takes you step by step through acquiring the data, massaging it, and plotting it. Older equipment such as the HP4191A, 4192A, and 4193A do not have built in plotting to a 7470A plotter so John Miles emulator does not work with them. I am using a very simple method that requires little or no programming experience. I use a Prologix GPIB to USB to connect to my HP test equipment. I then use Ulrich Bangert's EZGPIB to acquire the data, Notepad++ to massage the data because it can select, copy, and move columns. I then use Ulricht's DF6JB Plotter to make the plots. Unlike Excel the plotter is easy to use and can export a picture in .bmp (2.5 MB) or .emf (50 kB) pictures which can be pasted into a document. The .emf will not paste here or to gmail but will paste into MS Word. The picture below is the example in my uploaded note and is a .bmp file. I would like to hear from anyone who can get a left and right axis working on the DF6JB Plotter or any other. Sometime it is nice to display Magnitude and Phase from the Impedance Analyzers. In the same folder is another file that explains how I have managed to do this but I am not happy with the methods. The DF6JB Plotter is easy to use and two traces with the same left scale can be plotted for comparison. The plotter has buttons for a right hand axis but I cannot get it to work. Unfortunately Ulricht is no longer with us. The plotter should be available on the Prologix site but if not drop me an email. PeterB |

As in all things it depends on how much you want to spend. Keysight still supports the 34401A - unit exchange is $768 and I believe that includes calibration. Calibration is also still available at about $230ish. I ordered the display PCA from Keysight and replaced it easily enough. There are also aftermarket suppliers offering them on eBay but I went with Keysight as I needed some other parts as well. Mine still compares close enough with my 3458A so I passed on calibration for now. Steve On Apr 23, 2019, at 12:51 PM, mike bryce <prosolar@...> wrote: |

Keysight still sells the display. Bought one recently for about €150 in Europe. I did the repair myself. I am sure Keysight can calibrate your instrument. At 10V mine is within 40 microvolts.? Good luck,? Harke

HP 34401A repair and calibration
³Ò²¹²Ô²µ¡.
the subject line says it all. My go to bench multimeter hasn¡¯t been calibrated since I purchased it new 15 years ago. During that time, it has worked perfectly. Still does¡ however the display has gotten so dim, it¡¯s hard to see. The display needs replaced so, anyone know of a place that will replace the display and calibrate this meter? Thanks.. mike |

Re: Clarification : Brass gears for the 8640B
¿ªÔÆÌåÓý?For what it's worth, Ram,?the quote doesn't sound pejorative to my ears. ?If?your gears are molded, and from India, then certainly they are "molded gears from India", just?as the others, being brass and from the USA, are "brass gears from USA".

Folks,
Many of you are? aware that I have been selling replacement brass gear sets for the 8640B on eBay for quite a while now. I happened to notice that someone referred to my gears in a recent post which said "I produce them from brass.? These are not the molded gears from India I have seen advertised recently. They are produced from American manufacturers brass blanks." Please do not spread misinformation about others' offerings here. I am not in competition with anyone here, and I'm doing this out of my passion for a piece vintage equipment. If you have better gears to offer, by all means do, but please keep malice and misinformation out of the picture. (It may also help you look less foolish.) Thank you! - Ram |

Re: HP3457A missing power button
It is the same as the one on a 3468A, so that 3D printed part should work.

I have a printer; I¡¯ll try printing one and see how well it fits my 3468A. I won¡¯t be able to match the color, but I might have something close. On Apr 22, 2019, at 21:02, Dave McGuire <mcguire@...> wrote: |

I¡¯ll take a look at the file but I¡¯m not into 3D printing. I was hoping someone would know an available switch brand cap that would fit. What is at the front panel is actually just a pushrod. HP lists the key cap ?for the pushrod as an HP sourced #0370-0603. |

After some searching, I¡¯m convinced something is wrong in one of the processor boards.
