Re: 8642B displays A6A1 transient failure F3 when audio peaks at FM mod input
The peak phase deviations are:
20k: 20 radians
10k: 40
5k: 80
2k: 200
1k: 400
500: 800
100: 4000
60: 6667
If your earlier results showed the loop starting to lose lock at 3300 radians the

Re: 3325B fail 026 - any advice?
I have the same experience with HP equipment going back into the 1950s when
most things had vacuum tubes in them. The service manuals specifically
noted that instruments rarely needed adjustment

Re: HP853A/8559A Problem
Mike,
I believe I have an 853A/8559A system, but I have not touched it in years.
To get back to the problem, you said that you have no display - no display as in a totally blank display with no freq.,

Re: 8642B displays A6A1 transient failure F3 when audio peaks at FM mod input
Well let's see. Assuming your 10Hz mod rate and 33kHz deviation, the peak phase deviation at the VCO would be 33k/10=3300 radians. The loop divide number is 1080 so the peak phase deviation at the

Re: 3325B fail 026 - any advice?
A fairly good premise on most HP/Agilent/Keysight ETE is that if something is wrong or failing, do not start adjusting anything until you have isolated the problem area. Then if it is isolated to a

Re: 8642B displays A6A1 transient failure F3 when audio peaks at FM mod input
I connected the 8642 to a spectrum analyzer and found when I ran the generator into a transient failure condition the deviation was off and at times way to much deviation but upon bringing the

Re: HP8920B power supply removal
Marc,
Thanks, removing the input assembly is onerous but at least I have a clear path to follow; I feel much more confident now.

Re: HP8920B power supply removal
Hi Brian
I have worked on the 8920 series
The plastic mains switch actuator "rod" is the key, if you try to remove the power supply without removing it first you will damage it or the power supply

Re: HP8920B power supply removal
Hi Brian,
never worked on a 8920, but I found a manual here ( http://exodus.poly.edu/~kurt/manuals/manuals/HP%20Agilent/HP%208920A,%20B,%208921A%20%20Assembly%20Level%20Repair.pdf ) which states on

3325B fail 026 - any advice?
Hi,
I'm still working on my 3325b to fix the fail 026 error. Unfortunately
it is not as simple as a bad connection. I'm going through the
adjustment/troubleshooting guide, I purchased the Artek

Re: 8642B displays A6A1 transient failure F3 when audio peaks at FM mod input
I was part of the design team on the 8642 but I¡¯m not sure I remember the FM modulation details well enough.
Is the error truly transient? Is the deviation correct after the error message?

8902A Relay A26K1 replacement part

I was overly optimistic when I thought it was a dry joint - Looks like the relay is sticking so I'm going to take it out and try cleaning it.
However, in case I bugger it up, I'm wondering
