Well, what I have put online is just a document about A10 module wiring, exactly this one:

Re: HP680M chart recorder ink.

J. Forster

Not off hand, but the same ink in used in many recorders. I'd look for a
company that sells chart paper, etc. to the process control folks. I'm
sure not all process control records are digital these days.

Greetings to all.

Does anyone know where I can purchase the correct ink for my still
functioning (but inkless) 680M chart recorder?

I am downunder but would buy from anywhere in the world.

Thanks for the read,Brian G.

Once the aliasing has occurred, it is difficult, if not impossible,
to tell what is signal, and what is aliasing.

I'm looking for input regarding design of an antialiasing filter for a
homebrew DSO.

Thanks to the fairly recent Linear's ADCs I have a decent 12 bit 1Gs/s
sampler and I'm looking for something to go between the preamps and and the
sampler.

Admittedly, a DSO would have different modes depending on what you want.

A "free and clear" bandwidth exceeding the Nyquist limit would be useful for
equivalent time sampling.

For realtime sampling, one needs something that falls off quickly from say
-3dB to -75dB between passband and Nyquist. This is to avoid aliasing and resulting
artifacts in the sampled signal.

So -3dB at 100MHz and -75dB at 500MHz -- that's roughly 35dB per octave, or sixth order.

Does anyone know of any existing designs/pointers/ideas?

So far I have found US patent 6268765, but I don't know yet how easy it would be to implement
discretely.

Cheers, Kuba

HP8559A Log Amp adjustment problem

Dear Everybody :

Does anyone had the experience when adjustment of Log Amp ?

My question is:

When linear mode, align signal trace at top of graticule line with 800mV + offset voltae ( 30mV ) at A15TP1.

Change to 10dB/Div mode ,than adjust SLOPE VR A14R23 to get the same reading when Linear mode ( 830mV )at A15TP1.

Reduce the attenuator with 60dB level of IF signal 321.4MHz ( third converter input ), but cannot get reading of 230mV ( 200mV + 30mV offset voltage )by adjust offset VR A14R10 !!!

It seem A14R10 at the lowerest value to GND via R11 4640 ohm resistor !

Any idea for me !

All,
I want to thank you all who replied.

I fixed the unit, the problem was a bad A2A5Q2 (B-C junction open) in
the 50MHz amplifier. Now it is well in spec on sensitivity and noise
sidebands. Frequency response is ok up to 2G, as I do not have
generators for higher frequencies.

The are still a couple of minor glitches I am investigating:

- sometimes the tuning stabilizer unlocks. Switching it off and on again
seems to cure the problem, then it may stay locked for hours or unlock
again shortly
- I noticed some spurs at the left (only, not at the right) of the LO
feedthrough, at 3-4-5MHz

BTW, I prepared a wiring map in PDF of the interconnections inside the
A10 board, one thing not covered by the manual. I tried to upload it in
the files section but it is full. If eventually someone would need it,
please let me know.

Thank you again and regards
Paolo

I found some pressure sensitive chart paper for mine that gives a 'just useable' trace from the inkless original stylus.
But I'd like to get some proper chart paper and ink. I have a 680 and a 680M-both associated with 581 d/a converters.
More inclined to use a pc with appropriate interfaces than the 680s these days, but they are occasionally used in anger-especially for quick results.

You can download the HP 680 manual from here

I've got some red ink for Grass Valley polygraph recorders if you want
to try some. I've no idea how it compares to your HP but I imagine it's
similar. PM me your mail address and I'll post a bottle if it's OK to
send by Australian Post.
