开云体育Pat, ? I had thought about that too, but when I received it, the curve was reversed on the other side with an even larger angle. Then after a power cycle, the screen looked like what the image shows and nothing has moved since…but I had moved the instrument. I tried to shake the instrument a little, but nothing moves, I had thought then of a possible intermittent adjustment. But you are probably right, I will have no choice but to remove everything and try to find a way to make the adjustment when the device is powered on. ? Thank you for replying. Yves ? I suspect that's likely a magnetically deflected display, like a television, and has a deflection yoke on the CRT neck that's somehow managed to get rotated slightly. -Pat

开云体育Hi, ? I repaired an 8591A for a friend, but the display on his screen isn't perfectly straight. I'm guessing there's an adjustment for that, but where is that adjustment? There are adjustments on the top for intensity, frequency, green gain, and horz. Coarse focus on the back, and focus on the side. I haven't attempted to remove the display yet. ? Yves |

Have both 8660B and 8660C; I was aware of the thermal issues with the 8660B (I believe it was in the pre-LSTTL era as I understand). It lives in a basement (lowest floor) workshop and fortunately is not on for long periods of time nor subject to ambient above about 70F.
The 8660B accepts regular 60 Hz fan and I ordered a couple of "high speed dual ball bearing 120x38mm 120VAC" fans so that when these things are next on the workbench I'll have spare ready. As for the 8673D/003, I wasn't aware of the specifics of 400 Hz capable fan; most likely I'll see if I can add supply wires back to the switched 120VAC side of primary transformer (or however the 8673D normally gets power for it's upper assembly cooling fan, which should be revealed by the service manual (which is in competition for the heaviest service manual I've ever seen.) After doing some testing yesterday, I discovered that the 8481A that was to be the recipient of the dead 8485A's connector etc. assembly was itself dead (8481A won't zero and responds about 20 dB down incident signal, so dynamic range is something like 20 dB, not 50 dB.) I don't immediately recall the 8481A's history, however, I thought I had stored it away in working condition (and I'm the only person that would have access to it.) Given that unexpected result, and the current-era prices for used 8481A, my project idea won't be able proceed. So all that said, I'm going to keep eye out for 8485A (basically as a reference against which to calibrate 8673D synthesized signal generator.)

I think it is likely to work - BUT, the assembly and disassembly will be (at lest) challenging.

The thermistors may be similar, and possibly the thermistor board in the cartridge (you need to check this carefully before you start.? If the cartridge are the same, it would be straight forward,? if only the thermistor board is the same it will be a bit more difficult.? It might be reasonable o pick up a dead 8481 to practice disassembly on.
?
HP did sell the cartridges some time ago but they found that many attempts to replace the cartridges resulted in damage to the matching components in the head.
?
I would look carefully at the part list for the 8485 to get an idea as to how difficult the disassembly / reassembly will be.? It is relatively easy to get the cartridge out of the 8481,??

In the File Properties menu, I chose the number of points; here it was 10,000. I added some basic shapes to get 10,000 points. ? I sent everything to volatile memory for testing (you can choose volatile or non-volatile). The frequency was 1 kHz and 1 Vpp. ? The generator's mode is ARB, with BURST mode enabled; choose 1 cycle only. ? Trigger setup: set it to manual mode. ? You can trigger manually by pressing the TRIG button, or send the GPIB command *TRG ? Yves ? ? ? ? ? ? ? -----Message d'origine----- ? Just wondering if anyone has experience loading a one-shot retriggerable waveform over Ethernet into a 33210A arbitrary waveform generator. ? If it is from a 8660, don't be tempted to go with a lower power fan, HP had some reliability problems with early 8660A & 8660B, this lead to them offering a free upgrade to a larger size fan in 1974 to improve the cooling;

The difference with the option 003 is that a DC fan is fitted rather than the mains (50/60 Hz) AC one in the standard unit. This give you more choice of replacment fan. Take the old one out and see what model it is. Any modern DC fan of the right size and voltage will work.
The OPT 003 fan can't be a 400Hz unit because it still has to run at 48Hz. There is no such thing as a 48Hz to 400Hz AC fan (unless it is really a DC fan with built in power supply).? I've actually used / installed HP and Tektronix kit on aircraft using the 400Hz supply.? ?

What is the problem with it? I had a very noisy one of these fans and any 400Hz capable replacement was very expensive. In the end I simply took the old one apart and replaced the two bearings.
They were standard imperial sized units that were available from stock here in the UK, reassembled and all was well, took about an hour and even with top quality bearings (SKF) the cost <15 GBP. |

As i only have a 8485D that accepts a max input level of -20dBm, i tried the 8481A instead. But exactly as you said, the levels where low by at least 3dB above 19GHz. |
