Re: hp8640B_CR17_CR20_Hot
Armin, From my notes: almost a quarter of a century ago I had a similar failure. Just replaced the power diodes (3A) and all went fine. The A/B23 go to SS 23: the -5.2 V regulator. Let me know if you need more info. Good luck, 73 de Harke

hello Stu if you look on A2 on the side you see the LEDs for the PSU. All should be LIT. I am sure this is not a PSU issue.
If you work through the 300/600Mhz chain with an osilloscope you can check where the signal dissapears. I remember the 600Mhz is made in a doubler and if signal is too small you have not enough for doubling to 600Mhz.
best regards Peter

I suspect you might be able to rent the TAM from one of the ETE rental outfits for a month or so for not a horrible price.? I believe that Tam Hanna has one or two for sale, I may purchase one from him for my own use with my 8562A.

Re: HP 8656A A6 board U1 1020-2933 is bad
Joking apart, there seems to have been a minor dump of similar Plessey
Semi' parts on a certain web auction site recently.?? I was looking at a similar part number, but a divide by 10/11 chip last night.? More out of curiosity than anything else. It's always worth putting the OEM part number into Google, and see what falls out.? You may get a pleasant surprise, sometimes...? Even try the HP assembly number, seems people are always scrapping HP stuff somewhere and "parting out" the assemblies. 73. George,
Thank you for your reply. After a total of 6 hours searching I just found a seller on the auction site listing Plessey Prescaler/Frequency divider IC's. In the description he listed theSP6806B. He stated that the IC's were NOS from Watkins-Johnson and he is located in Morehead Kentucky, United states. The price is $9.50 each IC. I ordered 2 and will replace the bad one in about 2 weeks. This may be the last problem for the 8656A. I will then move on to the stack of more than 50 pieces of test equipment. That is not counting about 30 Tektronix 7000 plugins. Richard? WB4RSO |

A friend has a similar VNA, and for some reason I have the manual. I didn't see anything in the index about setting the time and date, but I could have missed it. Here's a .pdf if you don't already have it. HTH. Jim Ford ------ Original Message ------

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýAnd modern ECL divider is probably a good substitute, except it will need an adapter of some sort for the pin out. At those frequencies, the 100K and higher families will be fine. DigiKey sells a bunch of chips that could be a replacement (other than the pinout). Cheers, Kuba 16 apr. 2020 kl. 9:44 em skrev george edmonds via groups.io <G6HIG@...>:

Re: Application Note 122: EMI Measurement Procedure
I just checked my banana box of appnotes* and found AN122.
Weirdly, the spine just says "EMI Measurement Procedure" and the big "AN 122" on the front cover is an afterthought, put on there with a slightly skewed rubber stamp. Subtitled "Calibration and Operation of the HP 851B/8551B Spectrum Analyzer to Measure Electromagnetic Interference" 1st page: "02464-1 Printed February 1968" 154 pages total. Comes with a Business Reply mail postcard "Please reserve my copy of HP App Noe 63E - making fast emi measurements with a spectrum analyzer". I might fill that out, assuming HP is still at 1501 Page Mill Road and Alan Steiner is still with the Microwave Division. And like a cereal packet, there's a bonus - a "8511/851 Spectrum Analyzer RFI/EMI Calibration Slide Rule" in on envelope glued to the inside back cover. Sweet! * Saw 4 banana boxed of "service manuals" being auctioned on the NZ auction Site (eBay is 2nd fiddle here in NZ), looking at the pictures spotted an HP logo on top of one of the piles - hey, that looks like an HP App Note! - got them for a song - a nationwide courier company owed me a favour (long story) and I got them shipped for free. 1 box of app notes (possibly from the estate of someone high up at HP Australia?), and 3 boxes of service manuals for tape decks, electric organs etc etc. Long tertm plan will be to scan the ones that aren't there already. Cheers, Andy ZL3AG |
