Motorola did a lot of Schottky and ultrafast recovery diodes in TO-220
packages. Those were diodes for currents higher than 5 A and to best of my
knowledge, none of them were JEDEC registered, so most likely single source.
I have seen some other manufacturers putting out diodes in TO-220, but very
few of them, not an industry wide practice. Some of those diodes were pairs,
and others had tab connected to one of end leads. What you have is either a
pair with one leg shorted or it is a bona fide single diode.
As Schottky diodes, TO-220 was used up to 30 A and for higher current they
used TO-218 (a bigger package). In ultrafast recovery the line was drawn at
16 A.

Michael Hi, Yes there is a manual. My copy is bearely readable. Came from HP microfiche... Check the solid tantalum capacitors on the second board from the top, after removing the top cover, with power off. The same capacitor was shorted on both my 3469A with weird results. Program to control and print waveforms from HP54200A
I recently wrote a program to allow PCs to control and print
waveforms from the HP54200A. The program also allows waveforms to be
averaged to reduce noise and improve resolution, and it does FFTs.
It is written in Delphi 7, but can probably be modified in recompiled
in earlier versions. It has been uploaded to the files section for
anyone to use. However, you must have a National Instruments GPIB
board in your computer, with the correct drivers, and a cable, of
course. I'm working on a new version for the HP54542A, but I'm going
to try to keep it compatible with the older version. Please report
any bugs to me.

wanted: page from HP3320A/B manual
Hi,
I need a copy of pages 7-3 and 7-4 from the HP3320A/B op/service manual.
Page 7-3 is the block diagram, and I don't know what is on the back
(maybe it's blank).
A scan would be fine also, or if you could part with the page for a few
days, I could copy & return it.
I'd be happy to pay expenses or whatever seems fair, trade another manual
or parts, etc. etc.

can it be that my rubber has just spun around hiding the hole? Yes it did spin around.........at first try it would not budge......second try after posting the original query found that more might was needed in the effort and lo and behold it did move and turning it 355 degrees still showed no hole, the last few degrees, and lo and behole.....there she be!

Was thinking of cutting the double banana plug off, and replacing it
with Bnc (with the shunt capacitor also). Was also thinking of putting
BNC on the amp for both probe and another for the output. This also
means putting BNC on the probe too. The cable is .195" dia and heard
that it is 75 ohm but don't remember where. Which leads me to figure
on 50 or 75 ohm connectors (how can you tell by looking at BNC?)
There also is a 100/1 divider available for this probe that connects
to the probe end microdot connector, any facts on what in this little
divider?
The probe goround lead in the manual shows what appears to be the end
screwing into the rubber of the cable strain relief, surely the
rubber does not get used for the threads does it!!! I have another
probe which at least has a threaded hole beneath in the metal, can it
be that my rubber has just spun around hiding the hole?
With a BNC on the end of the probe does it become a 1110a probe?
Any other ideas to spiff up this probe a tad?
Maybe bells or whistles!! Maybe its just getting late!!!!!!!!

I checked the manual on my protek 506 dvm & it
said that the test current for diode testing is 1 ma.? The diode in
question is acting as a switch which is controlled by a bias voltage based on
frequency which is controlled by a MUX24FQ 4 channel analog ic.? If the mux
has failed then the bias will not be correct.? When I meter the circuit in
question I get -.34 v. relative to ground which would keep the diode off.?
In any event I just tested the main osc. on the unit and it has stopped working
& I had it up & running last week after resoldering the osc. control
board.? Frustrating.

I do not think that it is current that would kill schottky diode, it is
reverse voltage that might do it in. Some of very old meters were putting
100 mA on low ohm range, but I do not think that there are any of those left
functional. Most digital meters use 1 mA current source and then measure
voltage. I understand that some of those DVMs have output voltage that
reaches level of its supply buttery and that is where you can damage a
schottky.
Oops, I went to check my Fluke and that is one of those 'schottky diode
damaging meters' that applies 8 V plus to output terminals at no load; I was
under impression that Fluke used a voltage clamp for all Ohm ranges, but, I
guess, I was fooled. It is funny that my 'Harbor Freight Special', $3.99
meter is using 0.85 mA and output voltage does not exceed 2.6 V, what would
be satisfactory for schottky diodes used in sampling bridges.

Have HP parts and info, looking for parts...
We have a good cross section of HP parts for test gear, plus an
extensive on line cross reference for HP semiconductors, and a look up
table for many CRTs. you can see this info here:
we are always looking for HP parts in good condition for repairs,
especially knobs, CRTs and display parts, happy to trade or buy.
We also have a lot of items that get scrapped as not worth repair,
happy to send for free for the cost of shipping, especially to
schools, if you tell us what you are looking for.

Hi all,
I've got an HP 3469B multimeter that's not behaving as it should - the
display is behaving sensibly, but the values bear little relationship
to the electrical signals applied. Nothing looks brown/smoked inside,
and it has the largest multi-gang rotary switch which could have some
dirty contacts.
Anybody know anything about the insides of these? Do
calibration/service manuals exist? I'll start tracing the circuit and
checking levels but I'd prefer some intelligence before going in blind.
