Correct. The EXT is nothing like an MXA, except for the processor board being similar construction but not firmware compatible.

During the transitions form HP to Agilent and Agilent to Keysight, there were short periods of time where the front panels and other places in many instruments had the new name but the software had not yet been updated with the new name in every bit of code.

Hi Hardy. The EXT is a very similar instrument, possibly cheaper? I contacted Keysight with my serial number and it came back as an EXT so seems it has been upgraded (CPU & O.S?) to MXA. Ok some may be genuine MXAs, mine clearly is not. I don't think it matters and as mentioned I do not want to put buyers from purchasing.

I have an LCR meter which is HP but the firmware says Agilent. A real PITA to get Keysight to upgrade it free. They used to (perhaps still do), say on a document the advantages of a Keysight calibration is that it includes firmware updates if the customer wanted them. But when I tried it get them, they said it was only where the firmware was upgraded electronically, not when ROM chips had to be changed. After a lot of argument they agreed to do the upgrade free of charge.?

Hi Hardy, Yes all is fine. If the buyer checks the serial number with Keysight (phone call as web app wont recognise it) you may find its not a genuine MXA. It doesnt matter as its (probably) an upgraded EXT. It doesn't really matter as long as it's working! Mine is definitely like this as it's had an upgrade and front panel label looks cheap. I think many are like this. Its not a problem and do not want to put any buyers off!

I am not sure what you mean with-EXT--???.The licenses are exactly the same keys as keysight uses!!—but as the sellers? I have recommended SAYS..it is licenses generated in-house by ex keysight engineers,so no keysight Lab will touch them.

Its important to look very close before buying-be sure it’s the right seller!!They have shown their responsibility-have repaired returned units and helped with after sales problems..And? yes the MXA with the possible options are great!

Just reporting in re the suitability of these rather cheap unit from CH. Yes they are (all?) upgraded units from an EXT? or possibly something else. The licences are all internally generated i.e. not official Keysight ones but do function perfectly normally. If you're thinking you might want to get one I'd say go for it! It can be difficult to communicate with CH because of the language barrier but I do a lot of business with CH and never had any problems. The units are a genuine bargain. Must thanks others on the forum for their help and advice.

Based on my experience with similar HP scopes (132, 140, 175), I’d say the -150 supply is the reference for all of the others. Pull all the power supply tubes and see if you can bring up the line voltage without blowing any fuses. Failure at this point would be a transformer short circuit or some component connected across the AC line or one of the secondary windings. Then install the tubes in the -150V supply and get it working. I?

Once you have -150V DC, you can gradually return tubes to the other sections, one section at a time, and get them working.?

I am stuck again at the power supply level, somebody (sorry I forgot who, it must have been a private message) already told me to unplug the HV valves and start to check the lower DC voltages, a very useful suggestion which I followed.
All the AC voltages are there but the rest doesn't come up right.
the 88V is 31V and the -150 is next to 0
The v31 rectifier works and is anode V goes up to 300
then the fuse blows

In summary what I don't understand from the schematic is if I can unplug components (valves) to check each section separately, or additively until I get to the faulty components because they seem all interconnected. Could anybody help please?
