And that was a good call. :)
I removed one each of the doubled up diodes and re-tested the frequency response, and now it's come in under the HP specs, so winner winner chicken dinner. :)

internal flat cable is OK. You can also try to read the 85101C with a

I had replaced the 85101C by the 85101B keeping all the cables the same, then the system worked.
So, no wiring problem. The problem must be within the 85101C. Adress settings were correct,

origin. A=America, U=United Kingdom (Scotland), G=Germany, J=Japan, etc.
