HP used discrete filters for the IF filters , those filters are constructed using multiple poles that are coupled and each pole is adjusted individually to form a specific filter shape and bandwidth as a result if one pole is off than you get a funny shape like the one you are seeing !

On the older analyzers (855x, 8566/68, 70K, 8590…..? the adjustments were done manually , you needed to build of some shorting clips or cables and follow the instructions on the manual and usually this worked quite well .

However on the later model analyzers HP switched from manual adjustments and performance tests and providing HP basic test/alignment software free of charge to using a integrated test environment (N7800A )? with individual test modules for each analyzer family (N7811A for the ESA Series )? , this software requires a paid license however !? I am not aware of any alternate ways to do the adjustments however richard is the authority on this and he might know

Hi

Are you using an external test signal?-it seems so.

First i would make a self alignment with the inbuildt? 50 Mhz cal signal.

You will need to go in and adjust your Xtal and LC filters.? Not hard, just a pain.

Hello Everyone,

I am working on my E4407B and found that it has funny peak shape when I use low Resolution Bandwidths.
The shape is not collected into one peak, instead its smeared as in the pictures.
The bad shapes occur at RBW 300kHz, 100kHz. I don't think its there at 30kHz, but I could be wrong..
Anybody have any clue?

Best regards

FWIW I had a similar issue after a processor board repair.
I ended up doing to NSCOM clear of the unit then a Align All and it went away for me.

Keithley 236 firmware version A10

开云体育

Hi,

?

All the instruments in my lab are mainly HP/Agilent/Keysight, and two from tektronix, but now I have two Keithley sources, a 236 and a 238 functional received very recently.

I was able to find the A10 firmware version for the 238, but I'm still looking for the A10 firmware for the 236, I know it exists but can't find it...does anyone have any information where to find this firmware.

?

The SimmConn Labs LCD replacement display does a nice job, although may be more than some want to spend. As I recall, it can bring out a VGA port as an option.

?

Also, I have a CRT display removed from my 8920A which is in very good condition, as I only removed it to get the LCD; the display was working fine when removed about a year ago. Can be had for whatever it costs to ship in the US.

That youtube video is essential to anyone wanting to use the Sony.? I thought the resolution looked pretty good.
There are a few different models of the DSC-1024. I wonder which would be the best for use with the HP98XX series?

Looks like at least one enclosure available. I would prefer metal as I have a enough RF floating around.

Re: HP8920A display onto computer monitor

There is more info on the 8920 group

/g/HP8924-Family-Spectrum-Analyzers/topics
I've used both Gonbes 8200 (8220 is same but 2 VGA outputs) + LM1881, the Sont DSC104 and a professional scan converter. The Gonbes is better than the Sony but all are acceptable. One thing to watch is matching the VGA monitor to the converter output. If the output is standard VGA a higher resolution monitor can actually give a worse picture. An older monitor with matching native resolution works best.

There is no why spend so much money on that

Do you mean the filters on A3 IF Assembly?
Aren't those supposed to self-calibrate with the Auto-align ?
Is there a procedure in a manual that i've missed?

Re: 8562A service manual

yes I know it was a factory repair, bur I don't think I would have much luck trying to send it back to the factory Ha ha
Seriously It looks like it's not the correct board for my serial prefix (A4)

Thanks Lothar.

All understood.?? Diode based I understood and knew already.? After all, some of the usage examples are for sweeping filters much as a scalar analyser does things.

There seems to be even less info about the 85037 detectors than the 86200 series!?? But a common "feature" is a lower working frequency bound of 10 MHz.

??? Dave.

Re:-
The 86200 is a entirely different architecture as the regular HP sensors , it is a diode based sensor that contains correction constants inside a EEPROM , if I remember they were based on the 85037 detectors rather than regular HP sensors

There is a video out on the back panel. The manual says that you need a 'multisync monitor'. This is a composite signal, but I don't know what the scan frequencies are. It would also be nice to be able to convert the video into a printable graphic.

Gerald,

What do you recommend replacing them with - new tantalums?

(It would be a long weekend!)
