need Bill West switches
I have a 3562A that I am resurrecting, got most of the card faults done, but 4 of the "soft" switches on the side of the display are broken off. Mostly its the center pin on the red holder, contact and springs are present. I have the tiny pieces to try and reassemble two of them, but the rest of the broken off and have gone away previously. Or if anyone has any idea as to how to fabricate a new center pin....? :-) thanks Alan |
Re: 53131A, 53132A, 53181A Extra Channel option upgrade/downgrade
Hi again, I've updated my 53132A to version 4613 software to see if that would give me a divide by 512 count, but that had no effect. I've also?changed the?10MHz reference otbcode0,1 pins to see if you need to have a high stab source to get the divide by 512 and I still only get divide by 128?as has been stated by others in this thread who have tried the mod. So I suspect there are other bytes that need changing in the eeprom to enable the divide by 512, not just those currently identified in this thread. At the moment those 3 bytes can have any value and I still only get divide by 128 with ch3code0 tied to gnd. ch3code1 has no effect. It's either there are other bytes involved, there is something more required on the??main board, or when I initially did this change and corrupted my eeprom I lost some critical data. So if anyone who has either done this mod and it worked or has an eeprom image they can upload to the files section or send to me?I would appreciate it, then at least I'll know if I lost some data or if there are other bytes involved. Thanks Greg dlrn36 @ yahoo.com.au |
Re: 8340A Fault - ADC
I read the broken A27 schematic, some ADC sub blocks are overlay on top of other -- what a mess!!! However some blocks are readable. If I have the instrument, I would first check the ADC clock generator U6B and particular the RC feedback network C32 and R21. Don't know what type of cap C32 is. If it's a electrolytic, it may just be leaking causing it not to oscillate therefore no clock to ADC. Calvin

Hi Calvin unfortunately, I've got no 8340 to offer. However, I have a large collection of old and obsolete ICs.
If you tell me what you need, I can have a look.
The 7533 is available from Maxim, the other parts I don't know whether I can find one.
I can have a look tomorrow :-)
However, I would first try some more debugging to see whether the fault is somewhere else, and not in the ADCs.

You guys are awesome!!!
I will carefully read the ADC's datasheet to see if there is any viable substitute for it. My repair stories so far is always in RF and pure analog path. This is certainly a challenge for me given that the part is not readily available. I'll see if I can
negotiate a good price with the seller that worth the trouble.
What is the fair price you would offer for a non-defective 8340 if you guys don't mind...
Thanks again!

Hello Tobias, Oops. (facepalms) and I was looking at your post too! (facepalms harder). Confused your post with Tam Hanna. XD That'll do as a replacement. As for the ADC, I concur about availability. I'll have to check later on. The data book posted should be useful
in knowing electrical characteristics. As for physical ones, you may have to get creative while looking for a size flexible replacement. Maybe on some of the electrical characteristics as well.

Looked ideal. Unfortunately the vendor is sold out and is quoting ?seven week ?unavailability. This looks like an excellent product from the specs and I have marked my calendar. Re: OT Omni Spectra Semi-Rigid Tools
Jim,
I, too, would be interested in a copy of your spreadsheet. I have a T-200/500 kit and have been trying to obtain a copy of the general instructions for the kit for some time.? I believe the TYCO P/N for these instructions is 408-8677.? I tried to order a copy of this document from the company, but have had no response.? I reordered on 2/6/15, but still no response. Nevertheless, I was able to download the instructions for specific individual connectors from their website. The T-200/500 kit is for installation of OSM (SMA) connectors on 0.085-inch and 0.141-inch cables. Bruce, KG6OJI |

The inputs "loop through". There is only one output from the amplifier, it goes to eight BNC connectors with a 75 Ohm isolating resistor between the output amplifier and each of the six output connector. The dual power supplies provide power redundancy, the frame properly operate on one supply. You can adjust the gain on each module. Other amplifier modules allow you to adjust the "tilt" of the signal to compensate for long coax runs. The modules are hot swapable. These were very reliable and the only problems I had were power supply capacitors. Glenn On 10/23/2017 3:08 PM, Dennis Czelusniak czelusniakd@... [hp_agilent_equipment] wrote:

Early on I had the same idea and bought a cheap Asian unit and found out that it only had enough BW for a 6-7 MHz B/W video signal. Hello group. I`m intending to distribute, via 50 Ohm coax, frequency reference signals to my test equipment in my test bay [no relation to eBay, except that most of the equipment came from there]. I`ll be using RG58/U coax, and 50 ohm terminations, with the highest reasonable signal level reticulated. Given that the name of the game seems to be to avoid any severe reduction in SNR of the 10MHz signal comming out of the GPSDO, by the logic dividers, and impedance lowering buffer amplifiers, what considerations should be made regarding the choice of logic families, and transistors to be used? The frequencies required by the test equipment vary from 500kHz to 10MHz, and amplitudes from 100mV P-P sinewave, to 5V peak squarewave. How good must the PSU be to stop the rot getting worse, and is 1/f noise in the active devices important? Your thoughts will be appreciated.
