Re: E4401B No 50MHZ Cal signal
Hi Tom, I have verified that the 50 MHz ref is turned on in the input menu. I would expect that should turn it on, as would the automatic alignment process. If there is another setting somewhere that

Re: E4401B No 50MHZ Cal signal
Mike, I guess I cannot help w/o the CLIP. I'll take a look on Monday and get back to you. In the mean time, good luck! These are nice instruments to work on (except for all those screws!) Mark

Re: E4401B No 50MHZ Cal signal
Hi Mark, Thanks for the reply and the thoughts. From the info in my CLIP, the 50 MHZ CAL signal is generated by dividing the 800 MHZ 2nd LO by 16. The 2nd LO gets its power from the TEST MUX (U56).

Re: E4401B No 50MHZ Cal signal
Hi Mike, I do not have my CLIP (it's at work) but I recently repaired a couple of these ESA's, although different issue. (LO UNLOCK error) As I recall, the 50 MHz is generated by a dedicated PLL that

If this were a SATA drive, you could use something like this: https://www.amazon.com/SATA-Hard-Drive-Duplicator-Eraser/dp/B00G6TG5YE Of course, the older PNAs use PATA drives, so you would be forced

Re: E4401B No 50MHZ Cal signal
I? have to agree with Peter,? please do not adjust any of those "loose screws"? it will be the end of life for that one unless you're ready to get real serious with band pass filtering alignment

Re: E4401B No 50MHZ Cal signal
Hello Mike, I would first check out that Local Oscillator, I suspect your's is not there.? If I recall the cal signal is derived from the root source (YIG LO) which is fed as a reference into the 1st

The only advice I can offer is not to adjust anything until you fix the problem. I don't have this instrument. Hopefully you have a good block diagram and a description to figure it out. You are lucky

Re: E4401B No 50MHZ Cal signal
Hi Peter, I am aware of the differences between a 75 ohm input and 50 ohm input. I have a 50 to 75 ohm impedance matching pad that I will be using on the input when measuring signals with a 50 ohm

Are you using 75 ohm components to calibrate it? You do realize that it will not work with 50 ohm components?
