It is used for data collection the unit has a built in 6 1/2 digit DMM. ? The 20 channel multiplexer would allow it to scan and take measurements from 20 different inputs.? The 20 channel actuator? has 20 relays on it that you can switch under program control to turn things on and off.? The 34904A I am less sure about how it would be used but appears to allow for the scanning of a sensor matrix.? One thing that I used an older data acquisition unit for is to do battery capacity testing using a couple multiplexer channels to monitor voltage and current and actuators to start and stop the test.

I purchased a bunch of boxes of parts, development kits and some test equipment at an estate sale. I picked up a nice Tektronix 100Mhz 2 channel real time data LCD O-scope with all kinds of probes, A Tenma Jupiter function generator and an HP E3631A triple output power supply.?

But one device has me wondering " What is it, What does it do? "

This is what I have....

HP 34970a -?Data Acquisition / Switch Unit

two 34901a -?Data Acquisition 20 Channel Multiplexer Module

34903a -?20 Channel Actuator/GP Switch

34904a -??4x8 Two-Wire Matrix Switch

34907a -?Data Acquisition Multifunction Module

82357B - USB - GPIB interface

and all sorts of user manuals, service manuals, CD's, wires and cables to go with this unit.

SO..... what does this thing do??

What is it used for??

Any practical use for the average Ham Operator/tinkerer?

Thanks
