HI Gyorgy, ? I executed the various commands related to the creation, use, and deletion of a macro for the 8310, it all worked very well. The PDF shows you the different commands that I used to check the different steps. The 8310 responded to all of these commands via GPIB without any problems, and the 'TEST' macro that was created, worked perfectly on the instrument. ? If you need to do further tests, I can check it with you. I've had this instrument for about a year, a friend gave it to me, and I haven't used it much until now (RF performance check only), and thanks to you, I'm discovering new functions that I didn't know. ? I apologize for the off topic, but I am in trouble, and I don't find any sources of information. Maybe one of you will be able to help.
By a stupid mistake I erased the EEPROM of my 8310 programmable attenuator (don't as how, because it is simple. There is a GPIB command ERASE EEPROM. And it worked :-( ).
I could restore all the attenuator configurations, and the control over GPIB is working fine. But my front panel keyboard and display remains disabled. And I don't find any information about how could I enable it (over GPIB). For sure there are some related GPIB commands, but in the manual of the 8210 (the smart step controller) these are not documented (normally the controller is delivered without a connected keyboard and display).
I wonder if someone is using these Smart Step attenuators, and could make a copy of the configuration EEPROM (or already has a copy). It is a 24LC256 (but is SMD, in SO8 package). So it would be a little hassle to extract it, and copy it. But maybe, once in my life I have a bit of luck.
