As I recall, Windex has a professional variety that contains
acetone.

Dave,
With regards to Windex attacking certain plastics I have never seen
any deterioration of the material when applied. But that does not say
that it cannot happen. The biggest problem I have witnessed is the
sensitivity of the silkscreen legends on plastic display lenses.
Ethyl alcohol can also have deleterious effects on certain plastics.
I once had a mechanical pencil that received some grease contaminant
when on the bench. I grabbed a cloth, applied the alcohol to it and
wiped the grease off. When I came back the next day I found pieces of
the pencil¡¯s plastic housing spread all around it. The plastic had
cracked and crazed to a point where it had literally disintegrated.
