Some email clients allow you to limit the incoming email size to whatever size you want, mine does and I have been using the feature for years, actually decades, since about 1993. Anything over the limit and one does only receive a very lightweight notification message that said bigger than allowed email is waiting on the server, its size, and gives you the option to either download it, or blast/delete it. This is very handy and prevents a big (and usually non-requested) email from preventing you to downloading other emails that are further down the queue without having to immediately download the big one that is in the way.
