It's in TK3 and TK4 somewhere.

Hi,
If you transfer an XMI file (like RFE is), the receiving file has a record length of 80. The blksize should be a multiple of 80. Afterwards you can transfer in binary mode file rev370ld.xmi with IND$FILE to your system. With PDSLOAD you can copy the file to a partitioned load library. Copy this library (with RFE 3.3 or RPF 3.3) to SYS2.CMDLIB will complete your installation.
Cheers, Rob
|
To do a file transfer in your 3270, you can go to File then File Transfer.? Your record length is not an issue, you just need to ensure that you have a PDS allocated with record length of greater or equal to your record length.

Carlos, Ind$file will transfer the files or ftpd ..you might watch this video from Moshix on the subject:

Oh and perhaps also as on the CCTECH list. Lots of people with card readers there.

Ted, A few people still have real card readers. There are some folks on the IBM1130 list that can do this.
I am sure Dave McGuire (I hope I have spelt that properly) who has a small museum in Pittsburgh can read cards
and CHM in San Francisco has a reader on the IBM 1401 that can read to emulated tapes that can be transferred
as for an ISPF like editor then "The Thomas Hessling" editor
has an ISPF compatibility mode. There are also a couple of ISPF "look a likes" for MVS/380 but as I never was an ISPF user I can't comment. If you want to try the Turnkey MVS (TK4-) one is installed there...

Re: MVS38J Page File Error
Thanks to all who responded to my Page File Error issue.? All of your feedback forced me to re-think and re-evaluate my configurations for each occurrence.? Let me summarize.
1)? Running my TK3 system with Hercules 3.07, 3.13 and Hyperion 4.2.1 (under Win 10 Pro and Win 7 Pro) using a 3270 master console without start-up and shutdown automation, I did not notice any page filer errors.? From memory, I remember some page file errors if my laptop hibernated.? Additionally, BSPPILOT crashed!? ?All startup and shutdown procedures required manual intervention.??
2) Running my TK3 system (as described above) using the INTEGRATED Hercules console with start-up (issue r 00,CLPA, etc.) and shutdown (F BSPPILOT,SHUTDOWN to Hercules EXIT) automation, no page file errors were noticed.? Again, if hibernation?occurred, I experienced BSPPILOT abending.?
3) Running my system (as described above) using the HERCGUI with a 3270 master console and HAO for start-up (issue r 00,CLPA, etc.) and shutdown (F BSPPILOT,SHUTDOWN to Hercules EXIT) automation, I entered the CLPA command (via the master console) to start the automated IPL process.? However, I noticed QUIESCE, at shutdown, issued via HAO on Hercules would fail as the HERCUI integrated console was NOT authorized to issue QUIESCE. I still experienced PAGE FILE ERRORS.? My work-around was to issue a V 009,MSTCONS on the 3270 master console to transfer master console status to the integrated console on HERCGUI.? Now, shutdown is fully executed including the QUIESCE via HAO.
Perhaps unrelated to the Page File Errors, PC hibernation does not appear to play well with Hercules / MVS38J, in my experience.??
I have set my laptop to never hibernate (power always on).? Unfortunately, I forfeit power conservation while on battery power, but this appears to be a requirement for HERCULES (3.07. 313 and HYPERION) and MVS38J.? I understand 'you do not pull the plug on a powered CPU', and perhaps this is the case in my scenario.?
This conclusion may appear to be a 'broken record' for experienced Hercules/MVS users, but I thought I would share my findings with the community.
Hope you find this helpful.
Thanks, Larry Belmontes
