Hello and a suggestion 4
Hi all, I have just joined to ask and receive help using groups.io. I am very new to this but the website and groups interface seem to be totally accessible with screen readers, software that converts text on screen to either synthesized speech or Braille. I use NVDA under Windows and VoiceOver under OS X and iOS. Now that is out the way, I do have a suggestion for you. In your welcome messages the word, "please", is misspelled. Instead the word, "pleae" is used. Thank you for taking this into consideration. Kindest regards Chris H

File Size 5
Hi Mark, I just tried file upload on my test group "mogs"; A file of about 2.5 MB was rejected with the message "413 Request Entity Too Large" nginx/1.6.0 whereas a file of 522KB was accepted. What are the file size limits? regards, Ian

Problems with calendar and screen readers 3
Hi Support, I may have found my first accessibility issue on here. I tried your calendar and proceeded to add an event. However when I click show calendar button all I can see are buttons for previous and next month, the seven days of the week as text, a today button but no way of selecting a date. This is with Nvda and the current version of Firefox. Also I don't understand how the event is actually added to the calendar. When I click add event button it wants me to add a new event rather than add it to the calendar. Any help greatly appreciated. Thank you very much, I hope to hear from you soon.

group help
marvin, Too bad, so sad, move on. There is a point here that you need to understand: group membership is voluntary in both directions. Just as a group owner may not put you on his mailing list without your permission, you may not be a member without his/her/their permission. You may only be a member of a group if the group wants you to be. The group management is under no obligation to explain why. Some might, but I expect most group managers would not. From their point of view there's nothing to be gained by saying something that you would likely disagree with, or worse might irritate or enrage you. I know it isn't a satisfying answer, but you may never know why. All you can do is shrug your shoulders and move on. -- Shal

I have an unexpected problem 6
I just made a new group, and haven't really put it's name out there because I don't have everything set up yet, yet somehow I have a new member.? She didn't join voluntarily, and I didn't make her a member (I don't even know if I can do that), and I'm the only mod so I know someone else didn't. Anyone have any ideas?

Moderator options 3
Hi all, I want to give someone permission to upload files to the files section. The files section is set to only allow owners/moderators to upload. I see a lot of moderator options but not one to upload files only, or do I look in the wrong place? Cheers, Ary

Can I move topics between main and a subgroup, or between subgroups? 3
Hi All, Potential new user of groups.io here. I moderate a large-ish (1600+) member neighborhood group over on Y!G and the email delays there are getting impossibly bad. We may move it here, but we need to understand things first. One thing we'd like to see is something like subgroups, but with the ability to move topics/threads between subgroups, since I know my member base will get things in the wrong place with some regularity. I've created a subgroup in our test group here, sent some messages, that all seems to work as expected. But if there is a way to move a topic or thread out of main and into a subgroup, I can't find it. And of course, the same functionality will be needed to move something out of one subgroup and into another, or back into main. Am I blind? Does that feature exist somewhere and I'm just missing it? If not, I guess I should suggest that over in the updates group, right? Thanks for any help on this. --jeffp PS: After much digging I got an email from Y! Conciege Support telling me - explicitly - that "Yahoo Groups is not a supported property of Yahoo at this time." That wasn't sent publicly, but the word is getting out. There may be a lot of groups looking for a new home in the coming few months. I hope groups.io is ready for an influx of new users!

Databases feature
Hello. I am new here and wanting to learn more about how to use the databases feature. Could someone kindly share examples of what they can be used for and how you are using them? I look forward to learning more and putting groups.io to use. Thank you Neil

Unable to remove columns in newly created database! #database
Hello. I just created a new database in my new groups. I added some columns then wanted to remove one. I was thinking that I would do that by tapping on the X in the top right-hand side of the box-that's not responding. ?I added some columns then wanted to remove one. Does anyone know how often the digest gets sent out? Is it per day or per so many messages? Thanks Tami Davis artfulmuze@...

Moderation Status 6
Hello All, ? ? ? ? ? ?One of the groups I participate in, blindtech, had an out of control thread that has been locked. ?Just before that time the moderator/owner declared that the group was being put on moderated status and ever since then any message I attempt to post gets the, "once approved by the moderator" message. ? I was not involved in the out of control thread and do not suspect that I am being individually moderated. ?Here is a screen shot of what shows up when I go to the "Manage My Subscriptions" page: I am presuming that the big, blue M indicates that the group itself is on Moderated status, not that I am as an individual user, but I have no way to be certain about that. ?The owner is denying that the group is on moderated status, but he also didn't know that you could lock threads until I pointed out that you can. If I am being individually moderated I'll take that up with the group owner, but is there a way for an end user to distinguish whether they are being moderated as an individual versus a group being on "everyone's being moderated" status? Where does it say...... 3
Where does it say, on a 开云体育 group, how many moderators a group can have? And, what is the number?

What's the deal with certain users. . . 2
Hello All, Having their user names (often real name, but not always) presented in the topic view as a link, like mine is, versus users such as Tami D, marlin47@, Ary, and a couple of others in this very group. I'm asking this question generally but using specific examples that are easy to see right here on the topics view for this group. ?It shows up everywhere. Not that this should be a major concern, but it definitely makes navigation via screen reader more difficult since I can't teach people to rely on a link "landmark" for the user name, particularly when in the message view for a single topic. Can threads be merged by moderators or group owners? 6
Hello, ? ? ? ?I participate in a number of groups where people primarily participate by e-mail and on many occasions manage to change a single character (or more) in an ongoing thread title and spin off another thread, occasionally this happens where a "split thread" splits again for the same reason. ? ? ? ?Ninety percent of the time I just ignore this and that's what I'll continue to do, but there are occasions where a thread has a significant ongoing conversation of a technical nature and any spin off thread that's an accident essentially deprives the existing thread of important content and strips the spin-off thread of important context. ? ? ? ?What I'm wondering is whether it's possible for a moderator or group owner to coalesce these back into a single thread on those occasions where it would prove useful to do so? Can the mobile site be forced to load on a computer? 3
The subject pretty much asks it. For many websites if you enter the regular URL on a smartphone you'll see the URL change to the mobile one, e.g., if you enter www.washingtonpost.com, it automatically gets switched to m.washingtonpost.com. 开云体育 shows up as groups.io regardless of the platform I use, but the mobile site is definitely loading on the smartphone. ?There are times when I'd like to bring up the mobile interface on the PC but have no idea whether this can be done. ?Can it?

"Special Assistant" status rather than Moderator?
I have offered my services to the owner of another group to help him to clean up the online archive by merging back together a lot of topics that have been accidentally split over time. The only way I know of for that to be possible is to be made a moderator, but I do not wish to be a "full moderator" in terms of actual duties, so there would be no need for that role to be granted if there is a way to grant someone ability to handle specific moderation tasks without having access to others. Is there a mechanism that would allow this under 开云体育? ?It may even be some sort of restricted moderator setup, but I have no idea if such exists or if individual moderator functions can be enabled/disabled by the group owner for someone who is a moderator. Moving items from main group to subgroup, can this be done?
Hello All, ? ? ? ? ? ? I presume so, but have no experience doing it. ? Also, when that happens, is any placeholder left in the original main group interface showing the move has occurred? ?I particularly like the way the forums software used by bleepingcomputer.com handles both subgroups and the moving of a message from one place to another, whether that "another" is a subgroup or an entirely different forum. ?The original item's title is still left showing in the web interface with an arrow icon directly in front of it. ?If you then click on the title you're immediately shot to the place where the item was moved to in order to add to the conversation or to view it. ?This comes in quite handy if you know you saw something in "place X" but a moderator decided it would be more appropriately put in "place Y" and moved it there. I'm new to 开云体育 with several questions. 6
I'm hopeful this is the appropriate group to ask "how to" questions, but if there is a Q&A page to cover things like chat, sub groups, ect then please direct me there or if there is a more appropriate group for newbies. I was a member of a Yahoo Group and our moderator moved our group here because of the problems we were experiencing with Yahoo. 开云体育 has several features that Yahoo didn't and I'm not familiar how to use them. If it's okay to ask about them here then I'll open a topic for each one rather than listing them in a single post. I see potential with these new features if I could use them. Tom
