TYPO in original group name entered

Darlene Dimitrie

Entered name incorrectly as donauschwaben-villagess,
should have been donauschwaben-villages with one "s"

I fixed the name and all appeared to be ok.

However, the welcome letter has links in, both to post to the group and various links to update your account and access your group.
These all have an extra "s".

Can I fix this myself somehow - if so where?? I think these letters are static.? As a workaround for now, because we are not really live, I can put a message into the invite and hopefully they will see it and read it.? I will also post periodically to the whole list (about 30-40 people in test mode).

If not, do I have to contact Groups.IO; I thought I read that groups on the basic plan do not have Groups.IO support.

Or do I have start again with a new group?? I can live with that.

Thank you
Darlene

p.s. if you see 2 posts on this from me, I apologize, I sent the first one in and don't see it in messages

Yes you can. You can edit the Welcome Notice via the Member Notices tab on your group's Settings page. More info:
/static/help#membernotices
/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Member-Notices

I thought I read that groups on the basic plan do not have Groups.IO
support.
That's untrue. What is true is that groups on a Premium plan were given priority during the high demand associated with the mass migration from Yahoo Groups. I don't know if things are back to normal yet or not.

Or do I have start again with a new group?
Nope.

I think the only time one would need to start over is if you choose to make the group's messages private (available to members only) and then later want to switch back to public (available to anyone on the web). More info:

Shal, you have made my day!! These are the answers I was hoping for. Thank you so much for your very clear answer.

I'm the admin of a mailing list which is on Rootsweb, which will be shutting down to posts/replies, but maintaining the archives as of March 2 this year. We are working so hard to get this up and running. The transition team fell in love within minutes of setting up a group. I have found it easy to work with but I do need to remember in the app to do all the various tasks. It is starting to come together, we are now on Day 3.
