Re: QR code generation

If i understand your question correctly, and you are asking about adding names to your subscriber list?
it will be in this format in a field below the welcome letter

If you are still asking about how to make a QR code, you will need to link your QR code to an actual webpage.

Hope this helps!

I manage about 7 or 8 groups, but for the few I have created in the last couple years, I can’t seem to find the calendar to add events to it. Is this now a paid feature? Thanks.

Such a message will appear in the activity log, but there is no link to the message, nor is there any way to bring it up in the editor.
?
Premium groups might be able to do this via the Past Members list...but I have no paid groups anymore and have never done it.
?
Generally, it seems inadvisable for groups.io to provide a means to easily send +owner emails to non-members. Spammers could take advantage of that.

Thank you all for answering!? Wish that info was in Owner's Help.

Now a related question:? If a former member sends a message to the group's owner, is there a way to answer it through Groups.io?

Thanks Bruce. ?I learned a new and better way from you!?

Barbara

P.S. I did forget to add in my scenario that you can click on your name after choosing send message and it will let you send the message from the owner. ?

As Barbara said, click open that person's record in the Member List. Pull down the Membership menu and select "+owner messages." This should provide a sorted list of +owner messages that person has sent (the most recent one will be at the top). At that point you can select one of them and reply to it.?
?
Two good things about doing it this way:
-- All the quoting options that come with using the groups.io editor remain available, and
-- You have an opportunity to send the reply from the +owner address itself (and thus remain somewhat anonymous).
?
Hope this helps,
Bruce

The way I do it is to go to the members record and scroll to the bottom where you can select send message and you will be able to enter a message and send it to them.?

Hope this helps.?

If you're talking about Lena's Perl sccipt, it should work for any mboxrd file. I have never been able to get it to work, although I admit I didn't try very hard.

It's straightforward to export the Google Group member list into *.CSV format and subsequently Direct Add them to the new group.
?
The message archive is another matter. If you can get it into mboxrd format, groups.io support used to be able to upload it for you, in return for paying a year of Premium ($220). Getting the Google Group's archive into this format appears to be a multi-step, non-trivial process.? /g/GroupManagersForum/topic/69852334?

Others have tried, and maybe been successful; but I've not seen anyone report back to say so in the intervening five years.

You'd need to contact [email protected] to see if it would be done and what the cost would be.? Include any details, such as whether you want? files/photos, to get an accurate quote.? There are methods, such as Lena's Perl script, that allow you to do it yourself within some limitations, depending on how much information you can get from the Google Group.
