The footers for the main group and its subgroups have to be edited separately.?If you have 50 subgroups you'll have to do 51 edits.
?
You'll find it in the "Message Formatting" block in [sub]group settings.
?
Or do I have to edit all types?
Are we talking about your personal sig line here? If so, that would also need to be edited separately, once for each [sub]group.
?
Failing that, I don't know what you mean by "footer types."

Various Calendar syncing issues

Mike McRoberts

Hello all.
?
I am the owner of a group here and have calendar syncing set up. It works fine, except I've been experiencing two issues, which might be the same one.
?
1) Calendar syncs properly to Google calendar, but after deleting a recurring event in Groups.io, it still shows up in the Google calendar. The name of the event was NOT changed, it was only deleted.
?
2) Groups.io sends out a weekly Upcoming Events email to the main group. I changed the location of one event on the calendar, which shows correctly in the Calendar, but the Upcoming Events email still shows the old address.
?
Any suggestions? Obviously, deleting and creating a new event doesn't seem to be the answer. Hopefully someone from Groups.io can help.
?
Thanks in advance.
?
Mike

Re: Database download to CSV downloads all but one column

I used that link.? Awesome.? I did the conversion, and the CSV version definitely has the updated date I want.? My problem is solved.
?
Thanks

Re: Database download to CSV downloads all but one column

Woohoo.? The updated date is included in the JSON file, which I downloaded and converted to CSV using a link below.? The date isn't set out as an obvious column, but it is there in the middle of some other data JSON created.? So my problem is solved.

Re: Database download to CSV downloads all but one column

Thanks for looking.

Re: Database download to CSV downloads all but one column

Other than the json file, nothing else is needed for ? I verified that it doesn't store any of your information, so relatively safe.

The Groups.io Help Center includes the Owners Manual and Members Manual.
They can be browsed online or downloaded as PDF files.

Re: Database download to CSV downloads all but one column

The online converters I've seen think that I understand some of whatever JSON is.? Do you know of one that would just take my file and do the conversion, without any input from me?

Re: Database download to CSV downloads all but one column

That's exactly what I did.? I was hoping to avoid doing that if I download the file on a frequent basis.
Thanks

Lots of free online converters for this part.

I'm not finding the "Updated" column data in a JSON export, either. It might be simpler to just swipe it with your mouse and paste it into Excel. I've had some success doing that.

There's nothing special about the database and its entries.? They're all text entered by members, except the "updated" column.

Thanks

If you click the groups.io icon at upper left (to get to the home page), Feed should be among the menu items.

I did mention this, in a different group (/g/GroupManagersForum/message/48974). The actual site programmer announced it - also in a different group - one with only 84 members ().
?
To be clear, the Help system is not down. It's been updated, such that many old links no longer work. If it was up to me, such outdated links would redirect to the new help center, rather than throw a 404 error. But I'm not a groups.io employee, and in fact, none of us are. We're just group owners like yourself, trying to help each other.
?
I suspect we'll get a lot of similar inquiries over the next few weeks. Meanwhile, you'll have to go through all your wiki pages, member notices and whatnot and update any affected links manually.
?
Like you, I feel this could have been handled better.

Bruce

"Before a profile photo can be displayed in the Directory, a subscriber has to upload one."

The photo issue is where I know subscribers have previously uploaded one.? I originally thought I wasn't able to change mine then noticed everyone's, including yours, isn't appearing anywhere.

Since posting I've discovered that the AmazonAWS used is blocking my VPN, but only for images - not for messages.? This is something new.

"The Help system was recently updated and many old links to it are now broken. I don't know what you mean by "user reference links."

A "user reference link" is a hyperlink used by a system user to access reference info.? ?If the help system is down that info should be published so users could know.

Is there a system problem or is it on my end?

Re: QR code generation

How do I create a QR code for folks to use to sign up for my group or subgroups?
I believe you can create a QR code containing a mailto: link to the +subscribe address.?
?
?
?
When scanned, this should launch their email program and populate it with a subject line and some text (perhaps "Send this email to join group XXXXX"). All they have to do is send it. Keep in mind that a QR code is not necessary to do this; you can do exactly the same thing with a simple hyperlink.
?
There is no way to create a QR code that will allow people to Direct Add themselves to the group. They must perform some confirming action. If you have a list of people that you want to join, simply sending each one an invitation seems more straightforward.
