Yahoo member migration if "No Email" status

When groups.io does a Yahoo transfer of members:Every subscriber who was transferred will receive a "transfer success" notification and given the opportunity to opt out of their membership in the new group unless you choose to disable it. There is a checkbox for this in the transfer menus, see?/g/GroupManagersForum/message/12241?for details. The "no email" setting in the Y!G has no effect on this, but whatever setting they had in the Y!G will be retained for regular group messages in the new group unless you disable "no email" in the group settings (look in the Message Policies block). Hope this helps, Bruce |

The final "it" means the transfer notification, which is disabled via a checkbox. The subscription setting that a subscriber may have in the Y!G -- "no email" or otherwise -- has absolutely no bearing on whether they receive this notification. I hope that's more clear. where is this setting?Susan -- In groups.io, it is in the Message Policies block of Settings. I have "no email" disabled for all my groups. Many members are on nomail so when the messages are no longer accessible on the home page, well I guess they will find out the hard way so I just answered my question.?Yeah, pretty much. You can try to notify them by collecting all the "no email" people and contacting them directly (i.e.: outside of Y!G). In practice, I think you'll find that most of those accounts are deadwood and emails will begin to bounce as soon as you start sending them anything. More information at?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Transfer-from-Yahoo-Groups#Y21group-after-the-transfer Regards, Bruce |
Thank you and good point about the nomail. I also disabled nomail on my new list but see the nomails were switched to special.? Susan

However, it's nice to be able to contact everyone if unusual circumstances (like this one) arise. The "Special Notices" option provides that functionality, and is the default if a "no email" person is transferred into a groups.io group that does not permit the "no email" message delivery option. Yes and that way they are still not getting emails but receive something if I send a message out, correct? Susan
