Account disappeared #membership

Our condo HOA is new to Groups.io, having ported over from Yahoo.? However, we have a mystery, and we were wondering what happened, and could it happen again.

One of our members reported that he had two gmail accounts registered in Groups.io, and one of them (the one he relied on) suddenly disappeared.? He was able to go back in and reestablish the account, using the exact same gmail address and password for it that he'd used in the past.

I searched this group looking for similar problems, and found one that talked about email marked spam.? We reviewed that and found it was a different problem than ours.

Is this something that happens?? We have about 75 registered email addresses, and no one else has reported anything like this.? (The member with the problem is an IT professional, and he knows how data bases and list servers work.)

This is a new one on me.

"Email marked as spam" cancels your subscription to a group. It does not delete your account.

So I'm wondering if we're talking about the same thing.

If his account actually did disappear, my guess is he may have tried to do an account merge or deletion and swapped the email addresses.

IT professionals make mistakes, too.?

Dave,
It's unlikely that the account 'disappeared'.? I assume you have already looked at
Admin -> Member -> Activity History
Admin -> Activity -> search for various names/emails of this member
If there are no clues there, you can email support and ask them to look into what happened.? The logging on groups.io is pretty good based on Mark explaining who did what when on past issues.

Dave,

One of our members reported that he had two gmail accounts registered
in Groups.io, and one of them (the one he relied on) suddenly
disappeared.
I'm uncertain what he may have meant by "disappeared".

Did he mean that he was logged out? The login cookie expires after a month, or when you log out, or if you delete cookies in your browser.

Other than by attempting to log in and failing, I'm not sure how one would know that one's account had disappeared (as opposed to a group membership).

He was able to go back in and reestablish the account, using the exact
same gmail address and password for it that he'd used in the past.
And when he did, was anything different? Was that account still a member of the groups it had been? Did it still have any changes to account preferences he may have made? Or was it actually new?

Is this something that happens?
I've been here since the launch of Groups.io, and I don't think I've heard of such a thing.

Hallo Shal,

A member who asked to be unsubbed and then revoked that before I could do anything. The
Owner is coping with Florence storm damage so I put the member on moderation to chill and
then received some interesting ad hominem messages both in Pending and my own email
address. I wanted to do a Ban, but there is now no sign of the person having been a member
except for the Pending messages. On Sep 25 there is a message requiring approval. On Sep 29
there is a a non-member message requiring approval And an application for membership.

He is Gone. Not a Member. There is no log in Admin /Activities of the member unsubbing or
having been unsubbed.

Where else would I see his record?

OK,
Tony

Is it possible that this person deleted his groups.io account entirely? In such a case I don't know what group activity entry would be created, if any. If you have a Premium group you might want to try opening his Past Member record and checking there.

Regards,
Bruce?
