Updating Subscription Records
#reverification
I received a notice today that my subscription will be deleted unless I respond by Jan 28.? It appears my other members (2,000+) have received the same message.? This terrifies me since many of my users are more occasional users and are senior citizens and may not respond by Jan 28.? Our group has been active for over 20 years (formerly on Yahoo groups) and I don't want to lose the membership that we've built up.? Does anyone know what is going on?? Thanks.

This sounds like something it would be good to announce on your lists so that people are taken by surprise.

It is kind of weird that the message comes from [email protected]?and offers two solutions? one of which is to reply to the message with a "noreply" sender.? Maybe that is okay but it made me somewhat suspicious to ask for a reply to a "noreply" address.? Thanks for the prompt response and the link to the process with more details.

I sent a note out to my groups. I've heard back from one person who has gotten the verification email. He has his own domain, so I sort of expected that his might be the sort of address that would be affected. He replied to the email and got the following response.

But do we have a sample of the email sent for reverification? Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) Unfortunately, the bad guys have forced Mark to begin re-verifying some accounts in order to get the site removed from the Spamhaus blacklist. Dear Andy Wedge, You have been a member of one or more 开云体育 email groups since Wed May 23 2018. As part of our commitment to maintain a valuable and spam-free experience, we're updating our subscription records. To ensure you still wish to receive emails from your subscribed groups, we kindly ask for your confirmation. You have two simple options to confirm your subscription:
If we don't hear from you, we will send a reminder email every 4 days to ensure you have every opportunity to remain subscribed. Without confirmation by Sun Jan 28 2024, we will take it as an indication that you prefer not to continue your subscriptions. Consequently, your email will be removed from the groups you are a member of. You are a member of the following groups hosted by us: Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter and for being an essential part of our community.
Note the list of group names is accompanied by the group description. I've just removed that here so it's more compact. Regards Andy |
Hello
I was surprised to learn that a moderator who is also active got this email this morning. It suggests that the email will go out to everyone, not just people who seem to be inactive on the platform, and could be assumed to have left or even passed away. And all this without any prior warning ?? Dave Neve |

I got one and I'm on the 开云体育 site and/or the app everyday. It looks like it's more to do with how many users are on different domains. I have my own domain registered and there's only my email address from that registered with 开云体育. I am a member of lots of groups and subgroups and my subscription settings were to receive single emails on every one (the default).? If you had at least one of your group subscriptions set to No Email that was good enough to exclude you from receiving the email.? I've re-verified my account and changed the subscription on one of my test groups to No Email so hopefully I won't be included if Mark has to go through this again. And all this without any prior warning.Messages were being posted on Regards Andy |
The attached long email and similar Admin messages demanding action in the last 36 hours have got me quite concerned.

? ? ? As Owner of one group, I’m getting a chill feeling that these worrying messages are going to be posted to all my 300 members in the group of which I am Owner (Bxxxp). ?As a group we are not young people and I know that many of my members will fail to comprehend the importance – not to mention the intricacies – of complying.
? ? ? Which classes of members are included in circulation of this and similar Admin messages. I can see us easily losing up to half our membership if everyone is included in this.

A member of one of my groups was sent the confirmation email by 开云体育. His question to me is, he was given two ways to confirm. One way was by replying to the email. The problem is he described the email as a "Do Not Reply" email. Should he have replied anyway?
It was posted here that the reply-to address should be in the email's header. But the copy of the email posted by Andy Wedge (Msg #45738) doesn't show a reply-to address. The member in my group -- he does use an uncommon email domain -- who asked was afraid to reply to the email he got because, at best he was afraid it wouldn't be seen by anyone (the usual problem with 'Do Not Reply' email addresses) and at worst, a Do Not Reply email asking for a reply might be spam. I asked on Beta, how do members reply to the confirmation email when the confirmation email is marked Do Not Reply? So far it has not been answered. This seems a very basic question. Can anyone provide an answer? tommy meehan |

The 'Reply To' header in the email from 开云体育 is set so that he will see it replying to something like: "开云体育 Reverification <[email protected]>"? (I have masked out some numbers as they were my reply details). I asked on Beta, how do members reply to the confirmation email when the confirmation email is marked Do Not Reply? You can always hit reply to see where it's going to (or check the email headers if you know how). You just don't have to hit Send if you don't like what you see. Regards Andy |
Thanks Andy. The member did reply to the Do Not Reply email. They wrote me that what happened was they immediately received a reply saying their membership has been confirmed and no further action is needed on their part.
So going forward, members receiving the confirmation email should reply to it, despite it being marked do not reply. Good to know since I'm sure I am going to be asked about this issue. tommy meehan |
