Bob, I suggest that you do more testing by asking a non-member to send your group an email. I could do it from a couple of Gmail accounts. Then you would see whether or not it works. You can moderate

Bob -- "Test messages" are notorious for actually being spam.
In your attempts to mimic what a non-member might send, try some more realistic content before deciding that the filter isn't working

You can't control the spam filter settings as they are done centrally by Groups.io. However, non-member posts are subject to a much more rigorous spam filter than member posts so I'd choose from the
