Ilene, re: your suggestion above, can you clarify, can only the particular user see this check box?? Am I able to see it as moderator, for that particular user?? Or do I need to ask the user to go to their own preferences and make the change.

Thank you
Peter

Re: member not receiving own posts

Thank you for previous responses.? Unfortunately this one member is still have this problem.? He has exhaustively checked the spam settings on his internet service provider server. Also checked his spam settings on his client computer.

Can someone confirm that the option mentioned above an earlier response, re: check box for 'receive copies of my own emails,' only appears as an option if the user has a Gmail address?? I do not see that setting in the preferences of this particular user, who is not a Gmail user. (he is using Big Pond, which is the Telstra email service (Australia)).

There are no bounce messages in his Email Delivery History.

I welcome any further ideas.

Peter

Re: Integration

Paul,

I have set up an email integration but when I email to that integration nothing is posted to messages

  1. Is it possible you marked the integration as Moderated and your messages are pending?
  2. Is it possible you sent to this integration from more than one source email address (the integration "locks in" as its user the first address that posts to it)?

Are there any entries in the Group's activity log that shed light on the fate of your emails to the integration address? Any "bounce" (rejection, failure) notices sent back to your posting email interface?

Re: Subgroups

Ellen,

Someone accepted the invitation and they ended up in the subgroup and main group at the same time.? How is that possible.??

Two possibilities I can think of:
  1. You checked the box for that subgroup on the Invite page, thus inviting him/her to both the primary and subgroup. Accepting the invitation would make him/her a member of both.
  2. The subgroup's Restricted Membership box is not checked, in the Privacy section of the subgroup's Settings page, and the person immediately joined the subgroup.

Re: In line photo broken #photos

Ken,

The embedded pic came thru as the dreaded broken photo [ X ] icon. But not to all members/smart devices. I received both pics in my email but many got only the attached jpg and the broken pic icon for the iinline pic.?

It isn't that uncommon. The problem is that there are way too many variables in how sending email interfaces embed photos, and more variables in receiving them.
Any ideas what caused this, do others experience this, and is it an io bug?

If the image shows in the group's Messages page then I'd say the broken icon is the recipient's service. Sometimes all that's needed is to allow the image to be shown. For example, Gmail on mobile normally blocks the display of images in email unless you click the link to show them.

If the embedded image does not show in the group's Messages pages then possibly there's a problem with Groups.io's handling of the image, especially if that very same message viewed in an email interface does show the image. That would be a case I'd send to [email protected] for clarification/correction.

Image/Logo Not Showing in Some Emails

I just created a message to our group using our logo as the leading image box in the message. Some members are seeing the logo in the email message (gmail users) and some are not (yahoo users). Not sure yet about other email providers.?
Is there any way to fix this going forward??

Thanks!
Rebecca

Re: Attached Picture Not In Emailed Photos.

Lily,

I've tested the posting of embedded photos in my group, and have been following this topic. Interestingly, I still don't see the Emailed Photos Album, even though they are classified as attachments in the Photos Album.
?
The screen shot implies that all of the attachments in that (sub)group were not images - hence not creating an Emailed Photos folder.
?
If you posted messages with embedded photos to that (sub)group there are a couple of possible reasons, apart from the bug Mark fixed recently, that those photos might not be stored in the group as Emailed Photos:
  1. the image files were hosted on a web site. (http scheme), or
  2. your email interface put the image file(s) "inline" in the HTML. (data scheme).
The third option, of course, is that there's still a bug, or that Mark's reindexing didn't fix cases with no pre-existing Emailed Photos folder.
(first item)
?
See my earlier posts in this topic. I hiven't tested whether Mark's comment (in that Site updates message) about converting inline images into attachments means that the "data" scheme has been fixed. That would be worth checking.

Re: Editing an attachment

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

I don't do anything from the messages when they already posted.
?
The editing was done while pending. But in the pending que, when one attachment is checked off to be deleted, ALL the attachments get deleted as well.
?
I also am not talking about the Emailed Photo Albums.
?
I am talking about when the message shows up in their email.
The attachments are all gone even though only one was checked to delete.

Ilene,

Thanks for that suggestion but?I have no clue about anything from the Emailed Photos folder ...
?
Now does that get rid of the image from the attachment or the embedded?image.

Either or both.
I only work from the approve messages list on the group pages.

I think there has been some confusion about whether you were editing the message(s) while pending versus after they had posted. Any embedded or attached images in the message won't appear in the Emailed Photos album until the message is posted to the group. While the message is still pending the edit in the Pending list is the only place to remove the attachment(s).

Thanks to both Shal and toki for their insight (I'm the OP on this topic).? Like toki, I've dealt with many clients and sites that provided emesis inducing IMAP support.? I'm pleased (and not at all surprised) to hear that Gio doesn't do anything weird with plus addresses.

Printable calendar #calendar

Hi all. I used to have a link on my home page to a printable calendar. I did that by linking my calendar with a Google Calendar. Recently, the calendar stopped updating, and I started getting a message that I wasn't allowed access to that calendar. I've tried creating a new google account that would only link to the groups.io calendar. This was using the 'subscribe to this calendar' feature on the bottom of the calendar page. I looked a few days later, and I still see a blank calendar, with no integration into the google calendar.?
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Pending Subscription

Yes you can. Go to the Pending Members list, check the box(es) next to the pending member(s), then scroll to the bottom and click on the "Actions" pulldown menu to select the "Resend Pending Membership Notice".

While looking at the view you describe above, I think you'll see a blue bar
above the display names of pending members saying "Pending Approval." Click
that and select "Members" from the dropdown list that will appear.
?
In the same way, you can go back and view "Pending" members by clicking that
blue bar that now says "Members" and selecting "Pending Approval" from the
dropdown list.

OK; you find yourself looking at the "pending member"... A little above "Display Name" there is a blue tab called Pending Approval. Click on it and you will be presented with a drop - down list; the first option on a list of 4 is Members. Click on that and you will find your full membership list presented. Find the member you wish to edit and click anywhere within their entry "line", and this will take you to their membership details.

Edit as required, and don't forget to Save the change!
