Re: Attachments on calendar invites
Hi Duane,
that could be it.? In the message composition area when creating a calendar event there is no option to insert an image or attach a file. I've looked at that Trello board before but everything I've looked at seemed to have 2015 & 2016 dates.? I figured it's not used anymore. Andy |
On website page, allow customization of number of rows
#suggestion
For Messages and Members, it's laborious to page through screens.? It
would help if there was some customization of the number of visible rows. The existing build allows 20 rows (see attached screenshot). With the Web 2.0 habit of scrolling, I suggest you permit a user to specify a larger number of rows to display. Just as an aside, I've been very pleased with the smooth transition from Yahoo Groups to Groups.io.? Judging by the number of questions from our users - barely any - this was far more seamless than I expected. Jonathan Bernstein |
Re: Is the Calendar public to the entire group?
Hi
In Settings, scroll down to Features, Calendar. Check that subscribers can view. ?Pick Subscribers can view, moderators can edit. If you wish them to edit as well, check that one - subscribers can view and edit. Hello,Mike, I cannot duplicate what you say is happening.?However, I did note some unexpected behavior?somewhat related to what you are saying. As a test, I included several attachments in an email. All attachments arrived fully safe and sound as distributed to the group via email.?Two of the 4 files were not saved online, but that wasn't totally unexpected as they were empty files. The other two files, one with hyphens and the other with underscores in the name were correctly saved with the filename as uploaded. I repeated the same test via the web interface to upload files to the Files directory. The files with content were saved with the filenames intact. Again, the empty files were not saved. The upload went through all of the motions, but there were no messages at all and nothing was actually saved. Finally, we come?to something more directly related to your issue. This message is being posted using the web UI. The online File upload UI does convert the hyphen to an underscore, but only in the UI. The file is saved with the correct hyphen character in it. At least it did when I first tried this as a test. This graphic file showing the behavior in a previous test should be named?Hyphen-Test.jpg. ? -- Gerald |
Re: Honoring original Message-IDs in reflected messages
Ken
My experience is that this behavior is independent of having Conversation Mode turned on or off in the Gmail web interface. In fact it applies even if you are reading via a POP or IMAP client application. That said, it likely is a result of the same mindset that created Conversation Mode. An attempt to automatically organize messages according to someone's idea of how things should be. It is likely also related in mindset to the bizarre way that Gmail handles POP clients (they had a better idea).
Outlook? Well, there's no accounting for taste.? ;-) Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |

Re: Honoring original Message-IDs in reflected messages
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýYou can already turn off the Message-ID substitution, with the downside that Gmail will not place the returned message in your Inbox (IIRC it does show as a second copy in your Sent folder). Or you can leave it on, with the downside that your user interface might have wanted to use the Message-ID for threading. I don't see that there's anything else?can do for you. Shal I don¡¯t (yet) use it, but Is that because gmail has an option to file replies with the original message? ? I use a dinosaur 2003 Outlook and have that option turned on.? Ken |

Re: File renaming
It appears to be an attachment, not a link. I use Thunderbird to read my email, and that's how it shows up (in Yahoo groups, it's clearly a link, but groups.io seems to be sending them along as actual attachments). The problem is, it's not consistent. Most of the time, the dash comes through just fine, just some people seem to have them turned into underscores, and they swear they're not renaming them that way themselves (the software creates the files with the dash in the name). I'm just baffled as to why it's an issue for some, but not others. Thanks.

Re: Another Photo Album issue.
Hi
Then decided to look at a photo album to see if I could ascribe correct ownership to it. ? To my great surprise and concern, it had been done (was blank last week) with the name of the very recently approved memberFYI.? There's a thread on beta covering this same topic and a possible suggestion as to the reason why. Andy |
Re: File renaming
Hi Mike,
The problem appears to be that the dash after the C or F is getting turned into an underscore ("_")I've just tried sending a message to one of my test subgroups with an attachment called C-Test1.lpf and it gets sent back to me and my other test account as that.? There is no renaming going on that I can see. In an effort to eliminate the obvious, can you confirm that you are looking at an attachment when you receive a message and not just a link to it?? The settings to determine whether groups.io sends a file or a link are in the Advanced Preferences of the member settings for each group. Regards, Andy |
The key issue we have is that virtually everyone is subscribed to a Gio calendar are are never using the web interface other than the first time when they subscribe to the cal. There is nothing to differentiate a real meeting from a cancelled one when viewed from a subscribed cal.

I think it's time for Gmail users to give Groups.io a break and start asking Gmail to provide them with an option - or a more visible option that doesn't require asking GMF where to find it - that completely bypasses this nonsense that doesn't permit them to receive copies of their own messages sent from Gmail without unwanted side effects. The problem is 100% with Gmail, not Groups.io. Like Microsoft, Google is the 500 lb gorilla who sleeps wherever the heck he wants to. If I had a gorilla wanting to sleep where I slept, I'd sleep elsewhere. There are less troublesome places than Gmail to use as an email provider. Jim H |
File renaming
Hello,
I run a couple of groups for baseball leagues, using APBA's Baseball for Windows. When people attach files, apparently some (though not all?) are getting renamed in a way that makes the software not recognize them as BBW files. The file names are in the format "C-[name].LPF" and "F-[name].LPF". The problem appears to be that the dash after the C or F is getting turned into an underscore ("_"), and this causes the software to ignore that when I try to load Commissioner or Franchise files. If I catch it when I save the attached files, I can rename them to the right format, but if I don't, I may think that someone has failed to send me a file at all. Is there a way to prevent this from happening? Thanks, Mike |
