Re: Subscribing by email failing for one user
Mark,
Yes, it says whether they accepted the invite by web or email, but notIn principle it could find out by tracing the Received fields in the message header, but I can't imagine implementing that check just to identify this edge case. I think it should be somewhere else - at least mentioned in thePost it as a suggestion in beta. But perhaps wait a few weeks first: Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |

Re: Subscribing by email failing for one user
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi Chris
Yes, it says whether they accepted the invite by web or email, but not whether an email client or webmail was used, I think? I did an experiment and emailed to the [email protected] address from my email client (Thunderbird through 1and1 POP3) and it did accept his invitation for him.? Not that secure really, but at least he is now subscribed! Mark On 24/10/2019 22:55, Chris Jones via Groups.Io wrote: On Thu, Oct 24, 2019 at 10:26 PM, Mark Cubitt wrote: |

Hi
Yes, the activity log says whether an invite accepted by web or email, but I don't think I can tell whether it was sent by an email client (POP or IMAP) or via webmail? Further extract below for the user I mentioned in initial post in this thread.? The email they sent was to:[email protected],?but the final recipient in the returned email was :Final-Recipient: RFC822; <[email protected]> Mark details.txt Reporting-MTA: dns; re-prd-fep-046.btmx-prd.synchronoss.net Arrival-Date: Wed, 23 Oct 2019 07:19:12 +0100 Received-From-MTA: dns; re-prd-rgout-001.btmx-prd.synchronoss.net (10.2.54.4) Final-Recipient: RFC822; <[email protected]> Action: failed Status: 5.3.0 Remote-MTA: dns; lb02.groups.io (173.255.221.194) Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 510 5.1.1 Your email address, xxx@..., is not subscribed to that group. Re: Odd situation - Yahoo says transfer@ has accepted, status doesn't
#transfer
Yes this happened to me too.? The actual events and emails from Groups.io seemed to be slightly out of synch.? But the emails did catch up after 12 hours or so. My understanding (and from the email you did not get yet) is that you can uncheck all the boxes on the moderator permissions.? It just needs to be moderator with no detailed permissions.

And is it OK to start both transfers (to different subgroups) at the same time? I didn't see that thing about one group at a time until just a few minutes ago. :-(

Thanks. I added the extra info to the Quick Start document that Duane linked. I think it should be somewhere else - at least mentioned in the Member Notices page, but not sure what the protocol is for that.

There's no provision for importing data to a group here.? You can upload files and photos yourself though.? Take a peek at the instructions for doing a complete transfer at /g/GroupManagersForum/message/19673

Re: Wrong "welcome" message being sent
Brad,
Bruce said: You can only have one active Welcome message at a time. If you don'tYou can have none active if you want none to be sent. The time the system creates one automatically is the first time one is needed, if you haven't created one yet. Not having any welcome message is different in that way from having one or more, but none active. Su,
Is it pretty easy for me to paste in what you wrote for future reference?Yup. The Wiki page editor works much the same as the message composition for New Topic or Reply. One difference is that Enter is a paragraph break in the wiki, but a line break in messages. Shift+Enter is the opposite. Re: Limiting Transferred Photo Resolution
Larry,
I believe that setting works for new uploaded photos; I don't know itIt does, and I am. I had to make use of that fact when transferring one of my own groups (which had about 4.7 GB of photos at Yahoo). The transfer agent downloads the images at full resolution from Yahoo, and then applies the setting as it copies them into your Groups.io group. Re: Color of wiki links
#wiki
Sandi,
My first attempt at this. Some on the links on the wiki pages are blueThat is the reason. The link coloring is a browser function that compares the URL of the link to your browsing history. The specific colors are set by the style sheet for the page. I'm not sure why some of your links are showing in non-visited color, it may be due to a page cache issue or maybe part of your history has been cleared. Re: redirect when uploading to group
Tried to upload a few files to my group, but get a redirect to > myweb.accessus.net and says can not connect. Then when I cancel and go back to the group, all of the "buttons" show link to that site. Only way to get back to showing groups.io links is reload page. Odd. I just uploaded a file in my test group. I am using Apple macOS 10.15 and Safari browser. No problems. I went to files, clicked on upload file. Used browse to find the document on my computer. I tried with a PDF. Clicked on Add. Clicked Notify Members. All right as rain. Just uploaded a .docx. Since I have a Mac without Word, clicking on in the files area, it downloaded the document. Opened fine. The PDF opens in the browser. I don't know what to suggest! Perhaps someone else can tell you, but it doesn't look like a Groups.io problem but perhaps your network? Re: Transfer Status
Parts of that story from Yahoo are kind of right, but you might want to read Mark's own account of groups.io, which has been live for just over five years now:

Re: Limiting Transferred Photo Resolution
Hello Duane, Is it possible to do this after a group is transferred? Example after a group is transferred to IO you see total total data footprint on IO exceeds the group type ie: free vs premium max data allocation by some manageable amount. Could the 'Max Size' then be run to reduce the total foot print of the group to bring it under the group type size max? If so this could be a way to reduce data used without actually deleting any photos. Thanks, Charlie
