Re: Transfer of Yahoo Groups to IO Errors
If you've already received some kind of "transfer completed" message then I suspect Mark is not planning to work on it any more. It won't hurt to ask him but I'm sure there are other groups waiting in the queue.
It's my understanding that Yahoo Groups has been down a lot recently and you may be forced to transfer some content manually...if you can.?Frankly, if "in most groups [out of 22] the info was transferred with no problems," I think you should count your blessings. Good luck, Bruce |
Re: I'm puzzled!!
The message you received containing the original email address was hyperlinked as a mailto. If so, when you subsequently edit this text to anything else, it will still "point to" the original address.?
You will have to do one of the following: -- Completely delete the link when you do the edit, so you don't make this mistake again, or -- Become accustomed to not "clicking on" the hyperlink and instead cut-and-paste the revised address, or -- Become more familiar with anchor tags. Hope this helps, Bruce |

This is what I emailed to [email protected] I am ready to transfer group. The first time it was done not all databases came over, FAQ database appears to be missing. I tried moving it over myself. and none of the links came over. I believe that is all that needs to be transferred. ?

Perfect Transfer!
So, everyone is posting their issues and problems and I thought it about time for some positive comments ... Our radio club's transfer went perfectly! All members, files, photos, and posts on Y!G came over without a hitch. I only had to re-enter the recurring events in the new calendar and we were up and operating. The few emails that bounced were chalked up to "bad or no longer existing". So, deleted those and waited for the those "few" to rejoin. They did ... No issues!
Thanks so much, Groups.io ... everyone in our 100+ person Club loves the new platform. Best regards, Dennis - WU6X SFARC Groups.io Moderator |

I was feeling good and on a roll when I managed to create the link to the pdf uploaded in the files section, but alas I'll show my ignorance again :-) what does bump a topic mean and how do it?
Many thanks Glen |

Joe,
Just got a reply back, this is what is in the reply. Reply from who/what? Seen where? ? Not sure what it is suppose to mean "What we have here is failure to communicate." These question marks in a diamond
?
are the . which means that your interface thought that the message was in unicode (likely UTF-8) whereas it was actually something else. I'm not sure how that happened, but I'm clueless on the context. Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |

I thought I could just delete the original attachment, which edit topic allows, and replace it with the new one however it appears that adding an attachment is only available at the point of creating a new message not when editing ... I want that too. ? ... so I've resorted to creating another new topic is this by design?? No, I think Mark just forgot (see his reply in that topic). Maybe if you add a "bump" to the topic he'll find the corresponding round tuit. ? I'm puzzled!!
Something really strange is happening (and it was in our yahoo groups also) - this is the sequence:
- a volunteer's email address is in their application/message in our group;
- that person changes her email address at some point so we copy and paste the old application into a new message, removing the old email address and replacing it with the new one;
- several months later I want to send an email to that person so?I click on her email address in the new application and a "compose email" screen opens up;
- however, rather than the new email address that I can see in the message, the old email address for her appears in the 'send to' line.
It's like?the old one seems to stay hidden underneath the new one!? ??They're not similar in any way - this is very confusing to me!! ?It doesn't happen this way with every address change, and we follow the same procedure each time. ? Any insight and/or solution would be greatly appreciated.

You could make a suggestion on beta that editing a message allows the adding of attachments. As a workaround, you could upload the new file to your Files section and include a link to it in the edited message. On Tue, Mar 20, 2018 at 2:10 PM, Glen - G0SBN via Groups.Io <g0sbn@...> wrote: All |
Re: How long does it take to transfer
I just became unstuck.? Received the email from "Easy Group Transfer".? Then made them moderator, then returned to the Easy Yahoo Group Transfer page where I was finally able to see the go button.? What may help if this was documented a bit.? It may be that because of the backlog, the longer time frames leave users like me questioning if they've done it correctly.? But I'm excited to be taking yet one more step away from the continually crashing Yahoo site.?Thank you again!? Linda? |

Yesterday I created a new topic in our group which included a pdf discussion document as an attachment and this evening I've updated the master document and created a new pdf. I thought I could just delete the original attachment, which edit topic allows, and replace it with the new one however it appears that adding an attachment is only available at the point of creating a new message not when editing and having deleted the old one there's no way back, so I've resorted to creating another new topic is this by design?? Apologies if there is a previous thread but I couldn't see one when searching. Thanks Glen |

Transfer of Yahoo Groups to IO Errors
mrfixit82852
I created about 22 IO groups. In most groups the info was transferred with no problems. In others the info was not. Like the links section never transferred over to the Database. Some all the databases did not transfer over.
So can the Transfer request be sent again, I just did it for one of my groups and I am hoping Mark will make the attempt again to get all the info transferred over. I know it was a Yahoo problem getting to all the sections of the Yahoo groups. Thanks Joe |

Re: Moving a lists archive to groups.io
jeff,
? That's the place, [email protected], did you at least get the automated acknowledgement? If not check your Spam & etc.
Import from is already implemented, so that would be simplest. [] That's basically a plain-text concatenation of the messages as they were on the wire (header and transfer-encoded body). Moving a lists archive to groups.io
This is NOT for a Yahoo group. It's a mailman group. I need to do this for two lists that I have moved to . I've done a lot of searching on the site and in this forum. There's plenty on Yahoo but other stuff not so much. I emailed support about a week ago with no reply and I am wondering if there is someplace else I need to go for this. Or is it just not possible? If it is possible, then I also need to know what format is needed so I can request it from the mailman server owner. Both lists do not have attachments, if that matters. |
