Thanks, I got that wrong, did not see a way... (Not needed now.)
Another problem MIGHT be "old stuff" in the archives.
Indexing is really slick here...

You can rename a group any time you want. It's not advisable to do so because it confuses people and their email client. It's when you delete a group that you can't reuse the name unless you can get it freed up by contacting support.

Re: bouncing

Thanks.
As I am just in the process of transferring my Yahoo group to a virgin website, I will wait to see if the situation comes up in the new group.?

I hope this is not a bug.

archive privacy

I've begun creating a group so I can move a group I own from Yahoo. I'm unclear on the archive privacy options, and searches haven't clarified the choices.

What I want is what I have on Yahoo: a publicly listed group with members having access to all files for the group, but people who are not group members cannot view the files (photos, text files, old messages, etc).

Is this considered "private" or "public"? I would have thought it would be private, but the wording is ambiguous - a publicly listed group with public archives might mean either that non-members can see the archives or that archives are available only to members.

Thanks for help with this newbie question!

Holly

#transfer #subgroups #transfer #subgroups

Can a group be transferred to a subgroup of an existing group both within Groups.io? I know you can go from Yahoo to io subgroups, but what about io main to io subgroup?

Basically, yes.

in the UK and we're a members' group (choir) and charity, not a private individual.
If the list is "owned" by the charity, or is an official organ of the
charity, then full compliance is required. If the list is owned by an
individual, then some aspects might be dropped. This is what the court
cases will be about.

I've just gone through the same situation with a user not receiving emails. After verifying that the emails weren't in spam or junk folders and that there was no bouncing going on, I changed the user's email delivery to "No Email", saved that and then put it back to what it was and saved that and now the emails are now flowing.

You could give that a try.

Quesitons re: notices and other things

Once I give the go ahead to transfer my group, what notices will be sent to my group and when?? Do I prepare these notices or are they standard notices Mark sends out? Can they be edited?

Can the invite notice be edited for all invite notices?? I tried to edit it and wasn't able to but I was able to add more information in the box below.? The invite is signed "Cheers,The Groups.io Team".? Can I change that to Thanks for your support, Linda Perry to personalize it.
??
On my home page, instead of my member scrolling down to the join this group button, can I just do a link further up to say click on here to join now.

If I have a member on moderation and I reject their posting and give them the reason why, is that message or my reply saved anywhere on the group or do I need to send the e-mail from my e-mail account to keep a record of it?

Re: How to delete a sub group

Make sure you're in the subgroup.? Use the Settings page, scroll all the way to the bottom, and select Delete Group on the right.? You'll need to confirm it, of course.? You can verify that you're in the subgroup settings page by looking at the Group Email Address near the top of the page, along with the breadcrumb in the top title bar.

rss tag (integration)

Edited

Are there any known issues using rss links in the integration feature?? Just added one (that should be generating lots of hits, I did it on purpose), but not seeing any messages from it.

Re: Photo Albums Owner did not create

Click on the album you want to edit, then click on one of the pictures in the album. Under the picture is an Edit button to click on, and at the bottom of the Edit page is the Delete button.

Lyn,

?

I have established two limitations concerning fotos. One is the restriction to 140x140 which you can manage in the settings. This makes fotos come out with very little kb. The other is that I only allow up to three fotos per member. One of my moderators checks the foto section regularly.

Re: Sidebar - This is also an element that can be added to the group wiki, which puts a sidebar of content on the right side of the wiki pages.

Re: Photo Albums Owner did not create

To delete an entire album:
Open the album, select Delete Album at the top, and confirm.

To delete single photos:
Open the photo, select Edit below it, scroll down to Delete, and confirm.

No, you don't have to wait and you don't have to send it by hand. Create a Pending Subscription notice (Settings --> Member Notices ---> Create new notice ---> select type "Pending Subscription") and check the "active" box. Include your questionnaire in the notice. The notice goes out automatically (once they have confirmed their email address with ).?

Re: Bouncing messages with subjects that start with 'Private:'

You can select Group for replies and still have the Private option as long as you don't check the Remove Other Reply Options box.
