Profile Photo, and Display vs User Name?

So far as Owner I've transferred 7 of my 10 YahooGroups to Groups.io and all seems to have gone well. I expect to OK the transfer of the other 3 after group meetings this week.
?
The Groups.io Help section is pretty good, but doesn't cover everything.

Profile Photo:
I see a picture that I didn't select. It happens to be my current Facebook and YahooGroups Profile Picture. I do like it, but how did it get to Groups.io? as part of the transfer?
?
BTW I never sign in with my profile from one thing into another (e.g. Facebook profile to sign in to YahooGroups) - as I do not wish to cross-contaminate.

Display vs User Name:
?
There is a "User Name": @mjp?
Those are my initials, but what is this?
What is this for?
How did it get here on Groups.io? I do use my middle initial in one of my email addresses, but not this one and never in my name attached any of my email addresses?
Is this a Twit handle? I never did Twitter. I barely text, and only if I have to.
Shouldn't this be my actual name?
I can't see how to get rid of or change it.
I haven't found a User Name for any member, including the only other one with a Profile Picture or my 4 other email addresses; nor for a Moderator or the other Owner (yet another email address of mine) - they all say: "User name is not set."
?
I see "Display Name (The name listed with your posts.)"
I presume it got here because I do use my email address in the form of My Actual Name <username@domain>
I can change it, and as Owner (in Admin: Members) I've been putting member's actual names here that didn't have it, which also puts them in the Directory making it more usable.
While typing actual names as Display Name, sometimes 'auto fill' options show up - if I choose the bottom choice the member's name is entered, however if I choose the top choice my name is entered with a temporary yellow background (a warning?).
?
The Help section's Definitions does not define or explain these, nor can I find that information anywhere else.
