Our experiences differ...when I try to log in to do anything, it gives an authentication error, even though it never has in the past, and all credentials are correct.? I have tried tens of times and no joy.

Howard, is your Yahoo userID att.net, sbcglobal.net, bellsouth.net, or one of the other telcos? If so, you will need to change some things before you can get past the authentication error.
The telcos use their own password scheme, so you can have a common password for email, home phone, and cellphone. Yahoo warned you about this several months ago and told you to get a real Yahoo ID to manage the groups. Did you do it?
I did and made it a moderator. Then I logged in with that ID and made my old ID a moderator, too.
But to make PGO work, I have to use the new Yahoo ID. Simply repeat my process and PGO will be able to log in, using the new ID.
