My status here is that my invite to "transfer@... " (twice) has
never been responded to.

That depends on what the In Process page for your transfer says. If it says the invite has been received then you just need to wait for notice that the invitation has been accepted. Revisit the In Process page from time to time to check for any new status messages at the top.
