Yes, 100%? Do you have a copy of the Gemini manual?? Look at .? Rene is the genius behind the Gemini main board firmware.? ?
?
Also there is all the information you need on the website under Gemin 1.? The manuals are there also as well as a ton of other info you apparently will need to read.??

Gemini 1 Site information
Hi All Is it possible to rename and reconfigure the sites stored in "Site Information"? I have updated the "Hollywood" coordinates to my home coordinates but it now just shows as "User Site" The remaining?3 preset sites are less than useless so I'd like to update them with site info that I can use. -- Thanks and Best Regards Neil |

Some additional links for you.?

Here are the files you need if you have an Ethernet connection to the Gemini 2 and know how to transfer them directly to the Gemini 2 mSD card Gemini L6.02 files?

Here is how to use the , it's old but is still correct.?

Here are some written How To directions on updating the servo PIC chips.? ?

And here is the quick start guide from the L6 BETA, it is still good to read as nothing has really changed other than the versions of the files used.

Hi Trevor,
?
It's not just three files.? You need to download the latest GFU program which will automatically update to the new L6.0x firmware for the Gemini 2 main processor and Hand Controller files.? There is an inexpensive piece of hardware called a PIC Kit programmer that you will also need to update the PIC chip servo controller code.? These are the two (2) controller chips on the main board that have their own programming but cannot be accessed by the GFU program, they are accessed by a hardware interface and are normally programmed at the factory during assembly.? Well the big improvement that is L6 took a complete top to bottom look at how Gemini 2 does things and they committed to improving the Gemini 2 to a whole new level including the PIC chip code.? This is a large part of the L6 firmware upgrade secret sauce and how the new L6.0x firmware got the big 4x resolution boost.? Trust me as an imager you want the full update.? ? ?
?
Go to Amazon and order this.? There are directions in the Gemin 2 users group that will explain step by step how to do ALL of this. It's easy, many people with no experience have done it no problem.? Let us know if you have any questions or need any other help.?

Hi Trevor,
?
This being 2024 and the current production release of the Gemini 2 firmware being L6.02 with PIC servo code v3.0 and HC 1.61 you should probably update as? soon as possible.? Many issues were resolved in the current release and there are later versions being developed to fine tune mostly cosmetic issues.? Click on this link to go to the right file location to download the current releases of the Gemini 2 firmware: Gemini 2 production firmware? Get updated then retest.? ?

Thanks, but you're still missing one important piece of information -- the Gemini firmware level. Can you go to Menu->HC->Info screen on the Gemini hand controller and take a photo and post it here? Or just copy the information and post it here.?

Warning: please hold off on updating to ASCOM Platform 7
Hi Folks,
?
There appears to be some compatibility issue with Platform 7 ASCOM Chooser and Gemini.NET ASCOM driver. The chooser refuses to select Gemini driver.
?
Any existing apps that are already configured to connect to Gemini.NET will continue to work fine, but if you need to set up a new connection from a new app where ASCOM chooser is involved, this is likely to fail.
?
I've asked the ASCOM Platform team for help. For now, I'd recommend that you remain on Platform 6 and don't upgrade to Platform 7 until this is resolved.?
?
Regards,
?

Re: Servo motor optical encoder replacement
I received the new encoder this morning. It's now installed and the motors are working perfectly again. It took less than ten minutes.
For the concerned folk, no sparks, fires, or smoke have been observed from either the Gemini or the motors. So far ;)
Thanks to David Partridge for his help in procuring the replacement.

100% correct!? Every mount and telescope / rig configuration is different and using other people's limits cannot work reliably.? It is very easy to set your individual mount limits using the Menu>Mount>Limits>Set Limit Here option? button.?

The Losmandy Gemini 2? mounts are very flexible and they come in many different configurations, nearly as many as there are telescopes and imaging rigs. OK maybe not that many, even so everyone needs to set their own lits to ensure proper operation.?

East and West limits depend on each individual set up. Limits that work for one person might not work for somebody else. -- Thanks and Best Regards Neil On Wed, Oct 16, 2024 at 7:19?AM Paul Buckley via <paulbuckley14059=[email protected]> wrote:
