Hello,
I had the same thing happen when i turned on the power for my Gemini 2 GM8 mount that the RA would run away at full speed for 2 different reasons. One time was because my power cable to the Gemini computer fell across my battery terminals and induced voltage.
The other and more frequent time is due to my RA connector on the board is slightly loose and if i push the cable into the connector a bit harder, the problem goes away.
Regards,
Kevin

Hello Group,
?
I have a problem with a runaway SVM-HT motor on my Gemini 1 L4 G11 mount. Basically when I turn on the Gemini, the motor just runs away at full slew speed. It got very close to disaster once...
?
I've done the usual fault finding by swapping cables and servos, battery voltage, cmos reset etc.
It all boils down to the optical encoder device in the servo unit itself. Luckily they are only plugged into a socket on the servo board and I was able to swap the device between the RA and DEC motors. The fault followed the sensor, so I am certain that
this is where the fault lies.
?
I also managed to incorrectly insert the RA cable into the Gemini a little while back (that's an "interesting" design choice, btw, lol), so I suspect I damaged the sensor electronics in the process.
?
So my question is: Where to get a replacement sensor in the UK? The part is labelled US Digital - EM1-1-250-N. It comes up on internet searches, but only seems to be available in bulk orders. Although, TBH, I've not reached out to any of these large suppliers
yet.
Are these available in the UK, or even Europe, in single quantities? Repair would certainly be a lot less expensive than buying a whole new servo...
?
TIA
Paul
