Mac & Gemini 2 connection
开云体育Anon,I haven’t done this recently and I have an Ethernet port on Mac. I would first try turning the Gemini on first and then plugging it in and if that fails plug it an then turn on the Gemini. Paul

Hi ?,
?
How are you trying to connect Gemini to your Mac? Is it just an ethernet wire from Gemini directly to the Mac ethernet port? Or something else?
?

Just connect a standard network cable between the Mac and your Gemini II and assign a static IP address to the Mac interface on the same network as the Gemini II. Clear skies? On Tue, Jan 7, 2025, 6:45?PM Paul Homer via <phomer60=[email protected]> wrote:

That's the trick. Just make sure your Gemini IP address and Mac static IP address differ only in the last part of the IP address. If Gemini IP address is 192.168.0.111 then assign your Mac a static IP of 192.168.0.112. This page is for Windows configuration, but you can do the same thing with the Mac: |
Macs do the crossover automatically? On Tue, Jan 7, 2025, 8:45?PM Glen via <gcheriton=[email protected]> wrote:

It looks like you're not using Mac ethernet port, you're using an external adapter, which may or may not do automatic crossover.

But, first, make sure you have the proper static IP address assigned to your Mac before you start troubleshooting hardware.

Hi Tony,
?
We know the Ethernet port is working fine because we used GFU to install the newer L6.1 and v1.6.3 HC code and I showed you the web UI with voltage, Network settings mount type etc.??
?
We probably should have connected your Gemini 2 and MacBook to a router when you were here. Sorry for forgetting that!?
?
The other options you have are to be sure your MacBook is set to the same network as the Gemini-2 was set to.? Remember, I used a static IP for the Gemini-2 for a typical private network 192.168.0.xx this means the netmask is 255.255.255.0.? Your MacBook needs to be set to the same network and use the same mask to ensure it works AND the adapter would need to reliably auto negotiate the Ethernet port pin function on top of the usual duplex and speed.??
?
I know people say it works but I have never seen a Gemini 2 with a direct port to port cable connection without using a crossover cable or crossover adapter.? This is another thing I should have thought to try, I have crossover cables and adapters on my desk, DOH!?
?
?If you can connect your MacBook to a router at home using Ethernet and then connect the Gemini-2 to the same router and the networks are set to the same network range it should work as long as that USB C to Ethernet adapter is configured correctly.??
?
Keep us posted.?

For the record, I am currently using a Gemini II L6 with my MacBook Pro and a standard network?cable and it works perfectly. No crossover needed for Macs and it's been that way for many years. -Kevin On Wed, Jan 8, 2025 at 4:11?PM Chip Louie via <chiplouie=[email protected]> wrote:

What does your Ethernet port look like?? All of the new Macs seem to need a USB-C to Ethernet port adapter.??

I changed the net mask on the Gemini to match the MAC to 255.255.255.20. I've switched to a crossover cable. The adapter is a typical ethernet to usb-c adapter that I purchased on Amazon. Talked to Apple and were unable to resolve with a new user profile and running in safe mode.
The IP address on the Gemini is set at 192.68.0.111. Last try will be another usb-c adapter. Beyond that not sure what else to do.

I'm not sure if it's typos or not in your message. Please make sure to:
?
1. Set net mask to 255.255.255.0 on both, Gemini and on Macbook
2. Set Macbook IP address to manual, and enter 192.168.0.112: ? ? ? ? ? ? 3. Make sure Gemini IP address is 192.168.0.111 (it is by default) Then try again with your crossover cable.? Turn on your Gemini. Start a browser on your Macbook and navigate to this URL:? ?? |
