Does "Allow Speeding Up" button still work?

?
I'm a long time Gemini 1 user and I remember using the double button press on the Gemini 2 color HC for visual before I fell in with a bad crowd and started imaging with ASIAIR long before the L6 Beta or even Covid.? So while I was playing with the Gemini 2 HC I realized that I could no longer do the opposite key hold down to speed up.? This led to exploring the menus which I thought I had memorized but it appears that the option to Allow Speeding Up is somehow inactive in L6.02/03 on both of my Gemini 2 mini HCs.? Is it me or did that option go away even though it is still present?? ? ??

Enable Allow Speeding Up under Menu->HC->Buttons:
?
You can do something similar with graphical buttons on the HC, just turn on Persistent Diamonds. You'll can then slide a button, and it'll stay pushed so you can tap the opposite button to speed up.

Hi Paul,
?
I tried to use the HC>Buttons menu but when I press Allow Speeding Up it won't activate.? I know it used to work a long time ago back in L5.2x but I haven't tried it since loading the first L6 beta.? This is why I was asking.?

Hi Chip,?

Huh. Just tried it with 1.6.2 HC firmware, and you're right -- it doesn't activate! Sounds like something ¸é±ð²Ô¨¦ should look into. What version of HC firmware are you using?

Hi Paul,
?
I had previously tried it with HC 1.61 it didn't work.? So I loaded Rene's recently posted Gemini 2 L6.03 Beta with the HC 1.62 Beta and it behaved the same.??

Hi Chip (and others),
?
¸é±ð²Ô¨¦ provided a fix for the HC issue where the Allow Speeding Up HC option was not selectable. He also enabled some additional serial commands that allow this function to be accessed from the PC. For this reason, please update both, Gemini mainboard (ARM) firmware and HC firmware. GFU Advanced tab is probably the simplest way to do this, just drop each of the files into the corresponding list, and press Start:

By design, the Menu->HC->[Store Settings] button makes the current selections persist into future powered cycles. Conversely, the Menu->HC->Mode->[selections] are set to persist even if the user does not select this choice. ?This inconsistency appears unintentional, considering the purpose of the Store Settings feature.

Looks like an inconsistency, but reflects the complexity of a Distributed System. The Classical HC has a socket on the main board, so this setting is stored on the main board and affects the main board's firmware behavior immediately.

Store Settings stores the Graphic HC settings on its local eeprom. You can connect another HC with its own settings anytime...

Thank you Paul and Rene!? Gonna download and try it shortly!??

IDK, maybe I'm biased (yes I am) but you gotta love this group.? IME there is not another single mount manufacturer with as enduring a mount family (30+ years and counting) and controller (20+ years and counting) with this level of openness, on going development and support.?

Okay!? The Allow Speeding Up option is selectable now and it appears to work though I don't know if it behaves right with the "ASU" option not selected such as while in Guide speed which used to reverse the direction of whatever key was pressed as if manually guiding.? Not sure this is important so much these days as would be nice to be consistent with the old Gemini-1.? The double key press was a nice feature for us old visual observers but I had sort of forgotten how nice since imaging during Covid lockdown.? But it's back baby!? ?

Thank you Rene and Paul!??
