Looks like an inconsistency, but reflects the
complexity of a Distributed System. The Classical HC has a socket
on the main board, so this setting is stored on the main board and
affects the main board's firmware behavior immediately.
Store Settings stores the Graphic HC settings on its local eeprom.
You can connect another HC with its own settings anytime...

By design, the Menu->HC->[Store Settings] button makes
the current selections persist into future powered cycles.
Conversely, the Menu->HC->Mode->[selections] are set to
persist even if the user does not select this choice. ?This
inconsistency appears unintentional, considering the purpose of
the Store Settings feature.
