89% reduction with flax oil and immune system drug
This is an interesting study. Trastuzumab is a antibody that attaches to the cancer cell, allowing the body to see the cancer and attack it. At a dose of 2.5mg/kg Trastuzumab stopped tumor growth but did not reduce it. The mice with no treatment had their tumors grow 187%. Those that took the 2.5mg/kg dose of Trastuzumab with Flax oil had an 89% reduction in tumor size. Incredible results. Too bad they did not test just the flax oil by itself, or if they did, they chose not to report it. Combining Flax oil with immune system strengthening approach makes sense. Flaxseed oil-trastuzumab interaction in breast cancer Flaxseed oil (FO), which is rich in n-3 fatty acid, is commonly consumed by breast cancer patients because of its potential anti-cancer effects. Trastuzumab (TRAS) is the primary drug for epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) positive breast cancer. We investigated in athymic mice whether combining dietary FO (8%) with TRAS treatment (2.5 or 5mg/kg body weight) can cause better or adverse effect on established human breast tumors overexpressing HER2 (BT-474). Control tumors significantly grew 187%, TRAS2.5 treated tumors did not change, while TRAS5, FO+TRAS2.5 and FO+TRAS5 treated tumors significantly regressed 75%, 89% and 84%, respectively, after 4weeks treatment. Two weeks after stopping TRAS treatment while continuing on same diet, tumor size in FO+TRAS2.5 group was 87% lower than in TRAS2.5 group and was not different from TRAS5 group with or without FO. Combined TRAS2.5 treatment with FO caused a significantly lower tumor cell proliferation and higher apoptosis compared to TRAS2.5 treatment alone and showed similar effect to TRAS5 treatment with or without FO. Hence, FO did not interfere with TRAS but rather enhanced its tumor-reducing effects and combined FO and low dose TRAS was as effective as high dose TRAS treatment.

Study COMPLETELY lifts Budwig's main theory 2
The paper from 2008 is about her basic theory. They're passing it off like its a new idea, 50 years later lol. Chronic cellular hypoxia as the prime cause of cancer: What is the de-oxygenating role of adulterated and improper ratios of polyunsaturated fatty acids when incorporated into cell membranes? "It is our hypothesis that long-term hypoxia of cells in the body, measured in years, is the primary trigger for cancer. We believe that the hypoxia, which has to meet Warburg’s findings of a critical 35% reduction in intracellular oxygen levels to initiate cancer, is linked to the incorporation of adulterated, non-oxygenating, or inappropriate polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) into the phospholipids of cell and mitochondrial membranes. Such incorporation causes changes in membrane properties that impair oxygen transmission into the cell. Trans fats, partially oxidized PUFA entities, and inappropriate omega6:omega-3 ratios are all potential sources of unsaturated fatty acids that can disrupt the normal membrane structure."

Are there success stories with the Budwig and ovarian cancer? Diet has been followed about 2 months but numbers continue to rise. I have seen several stories with Keto diet working better with ovarian. Any insight would be very appreciated.

I was curious about antioxidant use, as JB recommends not to use antioxidants, so looked for some studies to understand better. Just wanted to share the info, as it gave me some more clarity. ALA from flax oil causes tumor cell lysis (breakdown). But SOD (super Oxide Dismutase - powerful antioxidant) and vitamin E prevented this from happening. So must avoid vitamin E. And avoid supplements that boost SOD like NAC. And Glutathione. Three Different Studies. I reduced the content for easier reading. ALA is the flax oil Omega-3. Study 1: Cytotoxic action of alpha-linolenic and eicosapentaenoic acids on myeloma cells in vitro "Superoxide dismutase (SOD) completely blocked, while vitamin E and reduced glutathione (GSH) could prevent to a limited extent the anti-proliferative effects of ALA and EPA." Both alpha-linolenic (ALA) and eicosapentaenoic acids (EPA) were toxic to SP 2/0 mouse myeloma cells in vitro. Both nordihydroguaiaretic acid (NDGA) and Indomethacin (IM) could block the action of the fatty acids indicating a role for prostaglandins (PGs) and leukotrienes (LTs) in the growth suppressive action of ALA and EPA. Superoxide dismutase (SOD) completely blocked, while vitamin E and reduced glutathione (GSH) could prevent to a limited extent the anti-proliferative effects of ALA and EPA. Catalase, mannitol, chlorpromazine (CPZ) and trifluoperazine (TFP) did not block the cytotoxic actions of ALA and EPA. N(G)-mono-methyl L-arginine (N(G)MMA), an analogue of L-arginine, which inhibits nitric oxide synthase, was ineffective in preventing the cytotoxicity induced by ALA and EPA. Fatty acid analysis of the various lipid fractions of SP 2/0 cells treated with ALA and EPA showed significant incorporation of these fatty acids in the cell membrane lipid pools. These results suggest that ALA and EPA induced suppression of SP 2/0 cell proliferation is cyclo-oxygenase (CO), lipoxygenase (LO) and superoxide dependent. Lipid peroxidation has only a limited role in this process. Both calmodulin dependent process and L-arginine derived nitric oxide do not seem to have a role in the cytotoxic action of ALA and EPA in these cells. Study 2: Free radical-dependent suppression of growth of mouse myeloma cells by alpha-linolenic and eicosapentaenoic acids in vitro "Both SOD and vitamin E could inhibit the action of ALA and EPA indicating a role for reactive oxygen species and lipid peroxides." Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) exhibited potent cytotoxic action on SP 2/0 mouse myeloma cells in vitro. Both SOD and vitamin E could inhibit the action of ALA and EPA indicating a role for reactive oxygen species and lipid peroxides. In addition, both ALA and EPA enhanced the formation of superoxide anion, hydrogen peroxide and lipid peroxides, and caused a reduction in the levels of antioxidant enzymes: SOD, catalase and glutathione peroxidase and induced significant damage to DNA in SP 2/0 cells. Thus, ALA and EPA inhibit antioxidant defenses of the cell and damage the DNA, which can ultimately lead to tumor cell lysis. Study 3: Effect of cis-unsaturated fatty acids on Meth-A ascitic tumour cells in vitro and in vivo "Vitamin E could partially block the cytotoxicity of these fatty acids indicating a possible role for free radicals." The order of potency of various fatty acids on the growth of Meth-A cells was DHA > ALA > EPA > AA > GLA > LA > OA and their ID50 values were 10, 20, 35, 45, 68, 73 and 110 microg/ml/1 x 10(4) cells, respectively. These results indicate that the inhibitory action of different types of n-3, n-6 and n-9 fatty acids on Meth-A cells does not depend on their unsaturation. Vitamin E could partially block the cytotoxicity of these fatty acids indicating a possible role for free radicals.

Fenbendazole very popular - is it toxic to humans? 8 #medications
It seems like ivermectin and fenbendazole are the new popular kids in the cancer world right now. Touted as ‘non-toxic’ at least compared to chemotherapy! While I full appreciate people’s urgent desire to be rid of their Tumors, is it at the cost of a full healing by way of the Budwig protocol? Can people have it both ways?

I had prostate issues with a high psa around a year ago. My psa was at 6.5, just had reading and it was at 11.2 and free psa at 6.92. I had gone to the full budwig of 3 tablespoons flax oil, 2 table spoons ground flax seed and 6 tablespoons low fat cottage cheese. This was done twice a day. Also I am taking other supplements including fenben and ivermectin. My nurse oncologist wants me to see a oncologist. She also feels that because I am taking so many supplements it is compromising my immune system. Must say I am disappointed, did not expect such a radical jump

Pressing your own FSO 14
Have any of you had problems pressing your own FSO? I had problems on and off for years before I discovered the secret to consistent results - hydration. Seeds are typically stored at low moisture levels of 5-6% to prevent mold, while 8-10% is required for good, clean pressing without gumming up the press. So if you’ve had problems pressing FSO, I’d be happy to help troubleshoot. Dean

BP 5 Year Update: Doing WELL with CLL 4
Happy New Year I have hit the five year mark* and feel that it’s time to share my findings :) 1. Did the protocol fix my CLL? No but it helps me to manage it very well! I still have the same enlarged (but seldom sore anymore) spleen and lumps as when I was first diagnosed. 2. Has the protocol helped me? YES! I am seldom aware of my spleen/bumps and I feel like I have the best tool at hand (BP) to manage my energy levels (hooray) and health. I also found that a skin condition cleared up, my nails strengthened again, the breathlessness I felt in the heat or when walking uphill disappeared (what a relief) as did occasional little red skin spots (related to CLL). The only negative thing that I have experienced on the protocol is bloating (I still struggle with this as well as dry skin occasionally). 3. Have I relaxed after the original stressful diagnosis? YES. Finally. And I say this despite having a few more bumps (which ebb and flow). I no longer care about my numbers/stage. I no longer go for stressful check ups and no longer worry. That’s probably because I feel so good most of the time. I listen to my body and it’s exceedingly obvious to me now that my body responds to stress with sore lymph nodes/spleen. I have learned to trust that these reactions go away after a few days of calm/rest or after a good sleep. 4, What would I do differently if I were to start again? I would not stress myself out so much about the diagnosis and delete the ‘c’ word from my mind. I would trust the BP process while not striving for perfection. For example, I would liberate myself from the kitchen by prepping ahead of time for the day after a certain period of time on the protocol. I would also not worry about the alcohol. The champagne is a great energy boost and the red wine is a great relaxer. 5. Any other tips? I wish I had spent good money on various items at the start of my Budwig journey rather than years down the line. I would buy a Nama self feeding juicer immediately (what a time saver) and an electronic oil press like the Emilio Rommelsbacher (which I received as a gift this Christmas, so quick and easy and the oil is delicious - no anxiety re rancid oil). I would also go big on sunlight including sunrise, midday and sunset (with bare feet on the ground a few times a day). And I would opt for high protein cottage cheese which feels more nourishing than the lower protein quark I used for years. 6. How do I feel after five years on the protocol? I feel a sense of freedom, peace and optimism. As I come to the end of the recommended five years, I would like to say a big thank you to Sandra and to all those posters who answer questions, share their experiences and keep our hopes up!!!!! And of course, I am grateful to Dr Budwig. xxx * Brief history: I was lucky enough to discover Dr Budwig’s protocol on this site shortly after being diagnosed with CLL (supposedly stage zero). I had a few small lumps on the right side of my neck (which I literally felt forming in the midst of stressful renovations) and an enlarged spleen (1cm). I got started on the protocol asap and worked diligently and obsessively on it for two years. The three years thereafter were also focused on BP although my times were less in sync. I did have non-BP foods occasionally while travelling or at a celebratory meal.

Happy New Years to all. Is hemp heart added to FOCC on top acceptable for added protein. The FOCC twice a day is very filling with all the fruit. Dinner is normally a soup so am trying to add a bit more protein. Thanks for all the valuable info this site provides.

Help - Metastatic stomach cancer 3
Hello, I have a close family friend in UK whose daughter (age: 31) in US is having last stage metastatic stomach cancer and declared by the Doctor as terminally ill and they can't do much about it now. She went through all required modern medical treatments but her condition instead is deteriorating. She's been provided liquid food through the tube. I have suggested for Budgwid diet protocol. If my memory recalls I read somewhere in one of the posts in the forum that there used to be Dr Johanna's clinic in Germany providing treatments even to those when Doctors have declared there is no hope of survival. Would anyone from the group by chance would have clinic's address? Thank you for your help in advance and look forward to hear from you. Eskaay

15 Key Points of Dr. Budwig's Protocol - Plz read & Save 8
Hi all In response to Todd’s message, here is the post written by Sandra: Below are Guidelines in brief of the Budwig Diet – you don’t have to consume all the foods on this list. Membership to our site, Budwig-Videos.com gives you videos or articles in detail about each item below. This information is from Dr. Budwig’s books. 1. 1st thing in AM–Sauerkraut Juice, preferably raw & homemade [We have a video on our site showing how to make it] . Raw unheated kraut has enzymes, probiotics and vitamins which help the digestive system metabolize foods & improve immunity. Most sauerkraut sold in stores is pasteurized [heated] and nutrients are damaged. It won’t help as much. 2. Just before breakfast– green or herbal tea 3. Breakfast–3 Tbs. Flax Oil & 6 Tbs. Quark or Cottage Cheese+ 3 Tbs. milk if needed for thinning, well blended, after blending, add 2 Tbsp flax seeds, freshly ground, add fresh fruit, fruit juice, raw nuts, 1 tsp raw honey. Afterward, if hungry, choose whole grain bread, raw vegetables, & an oz of quality cheese: Edam, Gouda, Emmentaler, Sbrinz or Camembert. 4. Mid-morning – Homemade Vegetable Juice (carrots, beets w/lemon or apple) . Homemade carrot or beet juices are very important cancer-fighters. 5. Before Lunch – Champagne or sparkling wine with 1 Tbs of flaxseeds[freshly ground] OR ground flax seeds in small glass of fruit juice. The champagne helps with absorption of the seeds. 6. SUNBATHING outside 10 to 20 minutes around noon [weather permitting] without sun lotion or glasses, expose as much skin as possible. Avoid washing with soap after sunbathing. Give the vitamin D time to be made and absorbed[24-48 hours] 7. Lunch – raw vegetable salad with a variety of raw greens and vegetables + Budwig dressing using 1tbs flaxseed oil, 2tbs fruit juice, 1tsp mustard. If still hungry, boiled or steamed veggies, grains and beans, lentils, or potatoes. [If a member of this site, see “DINNER” in the Menu for over 25 recipes] 8. Lunch Dessert – It’s important to have a 2nd serving of 3 Tbs. Flax Oil & 6 Tbs. Quark or Cottage Cheese with a little milk, well blended. Add raw fruit, fruit juice, raw nuts, raw honey and/or other flavors you like. You can also use non-sweetened cocoa for a dark chocolate flavor. Dark chocolate fights cancer if used in small amounts. It cannot contain sugar. 9. Mid-afternoon – 1 Tbs. whole flaxseeds, freshly ground & added to 3 to 8 oz of pure fruit juice, homemade or store bought. 10. STRESS REDUCTION/RELAXATION PRACTICE — Meditation to relax the mind, EFT to change thinking, & other techniques that reduce stress as shown on the Budwig-Videos website for those who join. [EFT is Emotional Freedom Technique]. Chronic stress can be very damaging. [We have a video for relaxation methods for members of this site.] 11. Late afternoon – Papaya or pineapple juice, 3 to 8 oz, with 1 Tbs. whole flaxseeds, freshly ground. 12. Dinner – Cooked grains and nutritional yeast flakes such as Red Mill Nutritional Yeast with B12 or grains with vegetables w/oleolux, nutritional yeast flakes & spices. Vegetables such as spinach, asparagus, broccoli, & cabbage add cancer-fighting nutrition. Grains suggested by Dr. Budwig: brown rice, buckwheat, millet and oats. Dine early. 13. Evening – 1 glass Red Wine [optional]. Go to sleep early – before 10pm if possible. 14. AVOID chemicals, preservatives, damaging fats, meats/poultry/eggs/fish, sugar, sugar substitutes, highly processed foods, most supplements, ozone treatments, dental infections and wean off drugs if possible [under doctor’s care] 15. Most people do not need ELDI oils, which Dr. Budwig created mainly for patients who are too weak to eat. These oils are sold in Germany. They are rubbed on the skin or used as an enema if needed.
