Re: New Question for Sandra Olson

Medical doctors Nicholas Gonzalez (now deceased) and Linda Isaacs have used enzymes in their protocol for pancreatic cancer.

Pancreatic Proteolytic Enzyme Therapy

The use of??against cancer was pioneered by John Beard of the University of Edinburgh nearly 100 years ago. He proposed that the pancreatic proteolytic enzymes, in addition to their known digestive function, represented the body¡¯s main defense against cancer. Several case reports of success with this therapy were reported in the?Journal of the American Medical Association?(JAMA) in 1907-8. Beard believed the enzymes had to be injected rather than taken by mouth, but research since then has proven that when taken by mouth such enzymes resist stomach acid, pass intact into the small intestine, and are absorbed into the bloodstream. Just how they work is unclear, but animal experiments in the 1960s confirmed their anticancer effect.

Each patient may be prescribed up to 40 grams of freeze-dried porcine pancreas daily, taken in capsule form, away from meals and spread evenly throughout the day. The Gonzalez-Isaacs formulation is thoroughly vetted for freedom from contamination and for potency tests out at 30-80 USP units of proteolytic activity per milligram with 15-40 units of lipolytic activity per milligram.

?Hi Rod and Ron,

I only used the digestive enzymes to try and get this golf ball size hematoma above his ear to go down. Way back then I had heard if you were given them on an empty stomach it gets rid of excess fluid. The twin labs did the trick where the Puritans pride product did not. I did not start the Budwig diet until after my dad came home. It was about a month later that I started the Budwig diet.

I believe that is the rationale for probiotics ......was not aware it applied to enzymes.

Conflating digestive enzymes with cold pressed flax oil is disingenuous. Digestive enzymes are a a combination of things that are produced. Most will say the digestive enzymes are worthless in general unless live and refrigerated. There are some available that are nitrogen packaged that they say are as bioavailable as live. If you are taking digestive enzymes in pill form you may as well throw that money in the trash.

Flax oil is cold pressed, there is no "production" per se and if you look at the numbers Puritan's is on par with Barleans at a third of the cost. Another online option is Piping Rock. I have used both and those are the only ones I have used and I healed.

Hello group,?

Just as an FYI, I used Puritan pride¡¯s digestive enzymes 20+ years ago for my father¡®s hematoma he had after brain surgery. It was not going down after a months time even though I used them on an empty stomach. I switched to twin labs and within three days the hematoma disappeared. I am not Confident in their products and I would never use them. It¡¯s just my opinion?

Lignans are just a waste of money as they are not helpful to the protocol and take up space in the bottle that should be used for oil. Check out Puritans Pride as they are now having their 3 for the price of 1 sale, works out to about $7 a bottle and there are also coupon codes that can get you another 15 to 20 percent off. Free shipping if you order enough.

Rod,
Thank you! I will be switching to another branch. The Trader Joe¡¯s label says 5mg of lignans per serving; I don¡¯t know if it¡¯s a lot or not.?
Thanks again,

Glass is better, but there are very few options available in glass. I have been using oil that was bottled in plastic the entire time I have been on the protocol and I healed so I think it is not a major issue. I would expect the amount of heat required for chemicals to leach into the oil would be higher than one would expect from normal handling and shipping, if at all.

I use Puritan's Pride oil for much the same reason as you use Trader Joe's, the cost. Also the convenience of online availability comes into play. As long as the numbers are similar I see no reason to pay more for a brand name.

Hello,
Thank you for clarifying the lignans point!
I have been using Trader Joe¡¯s flex oil for a while. What sold me on it was it is organic, and of course the price which is about 2.5 times lower than that for the Barlean¡¯s brand.?
What I don¡¯t like about the Barlean brand is it¡¯s plastic container. I read somewhere oil has the propensity to absorb chemicals from plastic during hot temperatures. And one never knows what happens to food stuffs during delivery. I am probably overly paranoid on this issue, though!
Thanks.?

Not Sandra, but I can say for certain that you do not want any lignans in your oil. You will add freshly ground flax seed later.

When purchasing my Barleans flax oil I¡¯m given two choices one has Lignan with a blue label and the other is a red label that says fresh which is the best to use with our cottage cheese.
