Re: HAM RADIO DELUX AND FT857D
If you have purchased a copy of HRD you can go to support and file a trouble ticket. They will contact you and call you on the phone and help you set it up. K3CLT Chuck Tobias

VOX Comes On When Powering Up
John Quinzio
Hi All,
The VOX on one of my 857d s comes on when I power in up, even after turning the VOX off in menu?MFd and the VOX Gain in menu 88 to 1.?? This doesn't happen until it has been off for about 45 minutes.? If I turn it off then power-up immediately?this doesn't happen.? Any Ideas? Thanks, John K6JMQ |
Re: FT-857D on AM
Hello John - ?Thank you for these tips. I just went to the service menu and my carrier level?reading was 138. I reduced it to 100 and now the ALC reading on transmit kicks up to two or three segments instead of "pinning" out, like before, regardless of the mike gain setting for AM. I have a friend who will get on tomorrow and I will ask him to listen?to me on AM an see if there is an improvement.?? 73, Bruce? FT857 data out jack directly to usb
Hello.? First note to group so here it goes!? Has anyone taken the data out jack from the 857 and connected it directly to usb for digital control via the computer on PSK, FT8 or other modes?? If so, what are your menu settings for the rig.? I can get mine to receive the info from the rig via this connection but can't get the computer to send an outgoing message on any digital mode.? I use at the computer two phono jacks which plug into a Sabrent phono to usb connector.? This cable goes back to the 857 data in connection.? Any help out there?? Thanks.? jerry n9ac

HTEMP-THRESHOLD - What does it mean?
Regarding #73 and #74 in the hidden menu, i like to know what's the meaning of HTEMP-THRESHOLD (38) and FTEMP-THRESHOLD (102) just out of curiosity.?
I know this thresholds are responsible for the fans to kick in.
But what does each threshold do of their own?

FT857D V/M SWITCH
¿ªÔÆÌåÓý? ? Sent from for Windows 10 I use to be able to use the V/M (#13 in manual) to toggle between the HF bands and those repeater frequencies I programmed in. Now when pushing the button nothing happens. Any help? Thanks, W3EK ____________________________________________________________ ![]() |
Re: [Solved - Solution]FT-857D no CTCSS/PL in FM repeater operation
Hello,
thank you for solving this issue. I have exactly the same problem and was ready to take it to a tech for fixing it. I am so glad it was just a menu adjustment. How did you figure this out? Is this an issue on all FT-857D or just some? Well, I am so happy today!!! Cheers Chris, W8DEX |

I used the 857 on 10 and 6 meters.? Of course WWV listening and it worked fine, no reports of audio issues.? Just over the years the through hole issues on the PCB in the AM mode. Mel, K6KBE

Re: FT-857D on AM
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýStart on page 48 of the user manual and it tells you how to operate the radio in AM mode for transmission.? Keep in mind the radio is factor set to 25 watts of carrier for AM operation.? With 100% modulation, you will peak out at about 100 watts.maritimus49@... wrote on 11/25/2019 14:12: Hello All - --

FT-857D on AM
Hello All -
?New member here. I have a 5 year old FT-857D which I use on VHF and HF. It sounds just fine on FM and? SSB using an external boom mike.? ?I plan to hook up an amp soon and I'd like to use the rig on SSB and on a couple of AM groups. I'm wondering what people here have done to get the rig to generate the best possible AM signal? Thanks. 73, Bruce? K6RQR |
