FT-857D Discontinued By Yaesu - Was a Great Run

In December I noticed that HRO had moved the FT-857D into the Discontinued List.
Today I checked and the major sellers in the US (HRO, Gigaparts, DX Engineering, etc.) are all showing out of stock.
Yaesu had a great run with this radio and I have sure enjoyed mine since 2004.

So I wonder what Yaesu will replace it with?
Will probably be a while to announce their replacement with the COVID-19 issue around the world.

Stay healthy my friends.

Re: 6-Pin DIN Interface has Stopped Working

The fuse looked ok when I took the top off, it was only when I tested it with a meter it showed up blown, the fuse for the cat port is near the cat port right next to a jumper, very small surface mount thing with a 3 on it.? the PDF is for a 897d but its the same as the 857

make sure you did not bend a pin, it is easy to do.

Re: 6-Pin DIN Interface has Stopped Working

I had the 13.8 volt output go dead on the cat port due to the 3amp surface mount fuse blow and my ldg yt-100 tuner stopped working. done a work around by soldering 2 small wires each side of the blown fuse and put a 3amp fuse in line, if it blows again its just a matter of popping the top of, replacing the fuse and away you go. pulling the cat plug out or putting it in with the radio on is what can blow the fuse as well as some say that a?motorized mobile antenna can pull too much and blow it. don't know if that was any help to point you in some sort of fault finding direction.

Unplug the tuner and go directly from the radio to the antenna.

Solved!? I want to thank you guys for pointing out that I overlooked the obvious!? Sometimes you can't see the forest from the trees, and this time I was probably just too close to the problem (I created it for myself!)
It's really nice to have a group of such nice people to share and solve problems for each other.? Again, thanks for the insight.? The problem is now solved, thanks to

Re: New Location Blues

Remove the tuner and plug the antenna directly into the radio¡¯s so-239 connector and see if you can at least hear something.

Also, make sure you have the antenna cable plugged into the correct so-239 connector.

I have for sale a LDG YT-100 tuner made especially for the Yaesu FT857 series of radios. It is a couple of years old and has a few light marks on the case but looks good overall. It was just back to LDG and they checked it out for performance and verified that it is working correctly. They also determined that it needed a new cable, so it comes with a new cable.

I will include the old cable as well, maybe you can use it to for an adapter for something else. This tuner is rated at 100 watts for 160-6 meters and has a wider tuning range than the Yaesu FC-30 tuner. It plugs into the tuner/CAT jack on the radio, but has a separate CAT jack on the tuner so you can still do CAT control of the radio while using the tuner.

You push the tune button on the radio and it puts your FT857 into AM mode, sends a 10 watt carrier, goes into a tuning cycle, and then returns to receive.

I am asking $85 shipped for the tuner and cables

I also have a brand new CT-39A packet cable that plugs into the DATA jack on the back of the FT857 to run digital modes.? You can wire it into your soundcard interface or TNC.? Asking $11 shipped.
