Subject: [FT-857] Turns on in VFO mode
I have an older FT-857d.
?
Recently, the radio stated coming on in VFO mode when in was in memory mode when turned off.
?
Did a bunch of searching but have not found anything on this issue.
?
Ideas anyone ?
?
Thanks.

Re: FT857 programming software and other Yaesu radios
Richard If Bob is willing to provide the source code, I might be able to provide continuing support.

Re: FT857 programming software and other Yaesu radios
Randy, Your info is correct but not related to the programming of frequency memories, different kettle of fish. HRD changed settings that were not intended to be changed by the rig operator due to the limited capability of the MCU Yaesu used and was probably the best fit for when the rig was designed. Re: FT857 programming software and other Yaesu radios
开云体育Yaesu asked the software companies like Ham Radio Deluxe and programming applications to greatly reduce the ability to program the FT-857 and 897 because it could damage the memory chips and they no longer have a source for them.? Randy On 11/13/24 8:25 AM, rifkum via

Re: FT857 programming software and other Yaesu radios
I've used his program for years on my FT-857D/FT-897D rigs. It is excellent software. 73, --Hank KB4MTO / TA5ZC On November 13, 2024 8:25:57 AM EST, "rifkum via groups.io" <rifkum@...> wrote:

FT857 programming software and other Yaesu radios
All,
If you are not aware there is a free Yaesu FT-857 memory programming software by G4HFQ (silent key).
This used to be a pay version of the software but since he is a silent key they have made it a free version.
You still may need a license key but it is freely available.
Lots of other Yaesu software here as well. ?

Re: Can the FT-847 DSP Board be used on FT-857?
开云体育Thanks Mitch. I found the circuit diagram of both which, as you said, are vastly different. 73s John On 11/11/2024 2:33 PM, n4mf_sc via

Sorry to interrupt again, but you should use an oscilloscope to trace the signal path. Changing parts with no clear reason is just looking for problems in the dark. |

Re: Low power output on SSB and CW

That is correct and they are really cheap from Yaesu.
If you do change them don't be afraid of using a high wattage gun for those ground pins.
I use a 140 watt Weller gun, but you have to be careful of the small nearby parts or remove them first.
It is a fairly easy job of you are careful.
Sometimes when working I cover and isolate nearby parts with some aluminum or Kapton tape to remind me to be careful.

开云体育That is correct.? My apologies.? CF1004 is the Ceramic filter for SSB/CW.? ?Thanks for the correction. ? Still if those 455 Khz filters are crusty looking they should be changed.? And perhaps it could be the IF amp as stated or any one of those PIN diodes that select the mode.? It is a pretty busy IF section. ? Ronnie VE3NLS ? ? ? ? From: <[email protected]> on behalf of "J.D. Barron via groups.io" <jeter.d.barron@...> ? I don't thank that there is a ceramic filter in the CW and SSB path. There is a crystal filter, but also there is an if AMP in there. I don't have the schematic nearby right now, but look at the path from the SSB filter to the down stream amp to the left. ? |
