857 radio does a reset when transmitting on 80m, works fine on all other freq 40-10
I have not had space until now to do an 80 meter antenna. I put one up and it shows 1.2:1 SWR on 80 meters on my tuner and with my antenna analyzer, resonant on many others (EFHW, ~132 feet

Re: Homebrew kranker knob for FT 857 / 817?
Patricia, Happy New Year.? ? The knob on the 817 seems to be smaller than that of the 857 and it will not fit on it.? ? If you ever figure out a way to place a spinning wheel on the 857 knob,

Re: Homebrew kranker knob for FT 857 / 817?
FYI, I did find this 817 version from a Canadian seller on ebay. I'm going to order it for my 817. When it arrives, I'll see if I can figure out if it will work with 857 or with 857 plus some

Re: 857D with Digirig/WSJTX or Winlink - worked fine - now recycles power on radio on end of transmit
Hi Jim, I've owned two FT-857's at the same time, and about 5 other rigs that I have run mobile at one time or another. When I bought my first FT-857 in about 2002, I also bought a small-ish mag

Re: 857D with Digirig/WSJTX or Winlink - worked fine - now recycles power on radio on end of transmit
The Digirig also lacks any galvanic isolation of the audio or USB data interfaces. It is a compromise designed to be small and portable. I have had good luck with XGGCOMMS interfaces. They have a bit

Re: 857D with Digirig/WSJTX or Winlink - worked fine - now recycles power on radio on end of transmit
A quick way to diagnose the problem is to turn your transmit power down temporarily.? I've also seen that FT-857's are much more sensitive to RF around the radio, whether it comes from cables or

Re: 857D with Digirig/WSJTX or Winlink - worked fine - now recycles power on radio on end of transmit
The FT-857 radios are notorious for RFI issues. Make sure you have plenty of ferrites and good grounding. You should probably be using premium cables. Gaston, the Techprepper on Youtube I believe

857D with Digirig/WSJTX or Winlink - worked fine - now recycles power on radio on end of transmit
Set *up was working fine. Then it started failing. With FT8 on WSJTX or Winlink - at some point (I think on end of transmit) the radio would turn off and on again - sometimes repeatedly... I tried it
