YT-100, SignaLink and Computer connections for FT-8

John Cavuoti Sr

I have a FT-857D in my go kit, have the YT-100 auto tuner and have been using this with HRD on a laptop.? I want to run digital FT-8 with this setup but don't see how to have both the YT-100 and SignaLink in line with the computer.? The YT-100 has a pass through feature but the SignaLink does not.
Any advise?
Thanks in Advance.

Re: Switching on/off my FT-857D

ALWAYS, call Yaesu Tech Support before doing any resets. It may be a simple problem that can be corrected without loosing all your data you have storied in the radio. Its a free service.

Hi folks,

For the very first time, my old FT-857D is messing around.
When I push the Power ON/OFF to switch off the radio, the front panel stop displaying the informations from the VFO but don't switch off totally the radio. The LCD is still illuminated !
And switching on again don't bring the display back. The only solution is to switch off the power supply.
The problem is I need sometimes to switch on/off again several time the power supply to get the radio running again.
I think in no time, I won't be able to switch on again the radio
Any suggestion about what to check ?

Many thanks in advance,

Hi Alex,

Thanks for the tips.

as I use the speration kit YSK-857 in my shack, the idea was to connect back the little RJ-45 cable to the radio instead of the long one. After reading your message, I disconnect the radio from the power supply and this morning it is working perfectly !

I am relieve !

Yaesu 857 (D) and Accessories

Time for some housekeeping. I have a very lightly used Yaesu 857 system for sale. Purchased (2nd owner) in Palm Springs CA in 2017 (as a snowbird) when I obtained my Tech certification. Not energized again until this ad created. Unfortunately, life has just gotten in the way. Equipment in like new condition, appears to run fine (see vid), although I have not attempted to contact anyone. Items include:
1. Yaesu FT-857 HF/VHF/UHF Ultra-Compact Transceiver (with DSP daughterboard). Serial No. 2N010. As new condition (no scratches, dents, discoloration, dirt). In original box and includes mounting bracket, Morse key, power cable, MH-31 microphone and original manual. 2. MFJ Mighty Lite 30 Amp Switching Power Supply Model: MFJ-4230MVP. Used less than 10 hours. As new condition (no scratches, dents, discoloration, dirt). Includes: 120VAC power cable, 12VDC power cable with connectors for transceiver and power supply. In original box. 3. ATAS-120A Active Tuning Antenna System Vertex Standard Co. Ltd. Made in Japan. As new condition. In original box. 4. Anli WH-713 VHF UHF Dual Band Antennae. As new condition. 5. Anli JM-100 Hi-Flux Magnet Antennae Network Lab, USA Antenna Bases (2) with cables 6. DBJ-2 Ham Portable Dual Banc J-Pole Antennae. Unused (with original bill of sale) 7. Extension antennae cable, some odd parts 8. Samsonite hard-side case with foam for radio and power supply transport. Asking C$1150 obo. Prefer to sell as a bundle. Cash only please. Pick up in Port Alberni/Sproat Lake, BC area preferred. Can arrange to show operation (to the extent that I can operate this unit!) over Zoom if desired. Pics/vids of equipment can be viewed at

Thanks Tony,

Power supply is around 13.97 V and when 857 is powered ON, there is no difference (14.01 V).

Thank you Jon
Will thik it off. Actually I was looking for a good vertical 80-10 without radials for my low land area of QTH. I just happened?to see this Challenger ant which is 80 - 2 Mts. So thought with one antenna all the HF and VHF can be covered. Will study with it more through various groups and decide whether to go for it.? Which vertical do you think best?

Challenger DX antenna and FT857 #signal

Hi all
I like to get a report on the perfomence of Challenger DX vertical on 2 Mts. As it is a single antenna for 80 through 2 Mts. thought of trying because of QTH terrain. The QTH is sorrounded by small hills and vegitaion. So will a vertical all bender work well ?
