Re: Power Output Question #fm #signal

Tone and frequency correct?? Sometimes repeaters have different tones for transmist and recieve.? Or not one at all.

Besides just having the right tone freq. selected, are you certain that TONE function is indeed enabled?

It sound to me like the tone encoder on the repeater end may not be setup correctly, assuming you have no problem with other repeaters that have tone access.

Thank you David,

I need the bracket to mount the

I do see that Radio World in the UK has one and I will call them Monday.
I'll also try Yaesu in the US.

Pat,
I was not incorrect.
The "MOBILE MOUNTING BRACKET" is part # MMB-82.
The "REMOTE MOUNT" is #RA0472500, as I've indicated.
Photos of each are attached.

I have purchased several of them over the years directly from Yaesu, very reasonably priced, and no overseas shipping or crazy dealer markup ($15 BEFORE shipping from UK!).

You can choose your own path, but I suggest you call Yaesu in California on the next business day and get the real answers.

Best of Luck,
David / N2PQW

Re: Wanted: FT857 Remote head Bracket.

Pat,
Some interesting suggestions so far, but I can't imagine anything easier than ordering one (or two!) from Yaesu in California.

Part # RA0472500

Last time I checked, they were less than $2 US each, plus postage. It's the real thing.

Voice Tel # 714-827-7600 Option 4

Re: Power On current draw with radio set to low power

The question is based on a piece from Remote Rig hardware that I read a while back, that suggested using a 2nd power supply for to power the remote rig hardware due to the inrush current at power on and how others had issues with the remote rig hardware at the radio resetting at power on.? I don't plan on using it in this manner but thought it was a good question, I could not see so many using it for portable / qrp use if this was actually the case.

Hullo R.,

While the title and original thrust of this piece is that of HF rigs on
battery power, enough related information that may be useful is
presented here.

To whit, one may infer from the notes and table what current capability
of a power supply may satisfy a given output power setting.

I can't find an index or landing page for this site (perhaps he only
uses it as a repository) however here is a direct link to the piece.
There are other interesting articles or notes there.

To be honest a 3d printer is almost a must have for anyone into construction hobbies.
I didn't realise just how much I needed it until I got it - lol.
Loads of amateur stuff from Morse keys to brackets etc.

That is out of stock at Gigaparts. Ham Radio Outlet still sells the separation kit.

Re: Power On current draw with radio set to low power

Unless the meter on my power supply is slower than can pick it up, then I only see it drawing maybe 2-3 Amps on power on and almost instantly dropping down to the regular draw of I think around 0.7. I'm not sure where the 20+ startup draw you read came from, I've never heard of that.

Power On current draw with radio set to low power

Radio is still sitting in the box and I've not done a lot with it other than replace the filters, chop off the power connector and replace it with power poles. Made an adapter to ground the brown wire to make it fire up in a low power mode.
